So I took the slip stitching out and then crocheted the tried and true joining and border that I love.
I'm still not sure if I'm done or not - I'm thinking I might add one more row. Right now it measures 27" x 33 1/2". For the squircles I used various brands of worsted weight yarns - and for the joining I used Caron One Pounder. :)
Here's the link to the border I used:

Oh the border does make a lovely difference! Beautiful work :)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to trying squircles soon :)
That turned out beautifully Debi! Your joining method is very pretty too. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies. :)
ReplyDeleteThe border certainly makes a HUGE difference - it really pulls the whole thing together
ReplyDeleteThanks Maria. :)
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteVery Nice work!
Susan
Thanks Susan. :)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks so much better with the border. Depending on what you're using it for, people in wheelchairs generall need smaller lapghans so it won't get caught in the spokes/wheels.
ReplyDeleteWow.. Whatever you do, Debi, it looks beautiful already!! Very nice work! ~tina
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference a joining method makes, huh? It looks so much better than the first way, although the first way isn't bad either. It turned out really pretty.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh! I like it! I actually liked both of them. The first one is more garnny style, the new more modern I think. Its amazing what big difference a joining can make. Pretty!
ReplyDeleteI agree too for the different look with the added border between the 'squircles'. Just a lovely work!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Maria, the border makes all together.
ReplyDeleteI really like it.
Which is the pattern of the border? Could you tell?
I am making my very first blanket, I am only working with the squares and I do not know yet the method I am going to use to join them.
Nice work!
Oh it is lovely. What a lovely blog. x
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the nice compliments. :)
ReplyDeleteMerchy - I have my pattern for the squircle posted on Sept. 5th. Glad you like it. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree it looks beautiful with the border it makes such a difference. x
ReplyDeleteThanks Jacey. :)
ReplyDeleteWow the border definately makes a huge difference, how did you do that if you do not mind me asking? I loved how you did some solid squares and some multicolored also, its beautiful, I might have to make one of those for a senior for Christmas time, hope you have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh Debi, that is absolutely gorgeous!!! The light blue really brings out the colors of all of the squircles!!! Beautiful work as always!! Thank you for sharing =)
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies. :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice :) Yes, the tried and tested method brought harmony to these individual squares.
ReplyDeleteI posted about something similar, but mine was big enough to cover a single bed, then I ended up crocheting right round the outside in the same colour yarns as I'd used in the granny squares. It kind of finished it off better as well as adding size.
That's beautiful! After seeing yours and some of the ones at SIBOL, I want to make one too!
