~ Fast or slow ~

I used to crochet fast.  Then one evening, while watching a mindless TV show, I realized that I had crocheted a whole round on a large granny blanket without even thinking.  ???  Now wait a minute - If I didn't realize it, then how could I possibly enjoy it?  That was when I decided to slow down and actually enjoy crocheting my pretty yarns into pretty items.  Placemats, dishcloths, potholders, pillows, blankets.  I enjoy them more when I can actually remember crocheting them  :)

  1. I know just what you mean. I crochet in order to relax, and I find if I try to ramp up the speed too much it's not relaxing. The only time I rush is when I'm close to the end of something and I just want to FINISH it!

ps--I'm a new follower, really enjoying your blog!

  4. Dear Debi,

I see just like you. I crochet to relax and enjoy ... but if I'm at the last series I rush me, I would be so happy with my result.
Still, I admire when I see in some blogs, how fast a work was finished and is sooo beautiful.
Dear Debi ... ENJOY your crochet allways and I wish you a Merry Christmas with your Family and a Happy New Year 2011!
    Send you many Greetings,

    Marion

  5. I crochert more on the slower side, but if I have a rush job I will try to crochet faster.
I seriously don't know how you get so many blankets done. I have 2 WIPs and told myself these would be done by Christmas. That obviously did not happen lol.

  7. Hi Debi,

The tiny projects like dishcloths or quick appliques I don't mind whipping up quickly, but other items I like to take my time and enjoy what I'm doing.

    Have a great day!

  8. I've done the same thing and try to make a conscious effort to not rush through crochet projects. I don't know why I always think it's a race to the end! It's much more fun to relax and realize that you are enjoying what you're doing.

Cool little jingle bells in your next post!
