Wreath
- knit-cro-sheen
- 1 1/2" diameter plastic ring
- sz. 1 steel hook
Rnd 1: Sc around plastic ring to completely cover - make sure you end up with an even number of sc's. Join with a sl st to 1st sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc, ch 6, *skip next sc, sc in next sc, ch 6. Repeat from * around.
Rnd 3: -this rnd will be worked in the skipped sc sts of rnd 2-
Sc in next sc, *ch 4, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Ch 30, join with a sl st to 1st sc. End off.

Santa
- face color, white & red ww acrylic yarn
- I hook
Rnd 1: With face color ch 3, 5 dc in 3rd ch from hook, work 1 more dc changing to white, work 6 more dc. Join with a sl st to 1st dc. (12 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in same dc, 2 sc in next 5 dc, (hdc, dc)in next dc, 2 dc in next 4 dc, (dc, hdc) in next dc. Join with a sl st to 1st sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in the hdc, ch 2, *sc in next dc, ch 2. Repeat from * 10 times, sc in the hdc, sl st in next sc. End off.
-turn piece back around-
hat:
Join red with a sc in 2nd sc, sc in same st. Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch 3, treble around last sc. End off.
-decorate as desired-

DeleteI love the Santa! My grandmother use to make these and she would be 110 if alive today. She made a wreath, too, and put special beads on it shaped like a leaf. I have looked for these beads but have been unable to find them to purchase in today's world. Did you publish? Just wondering where in the world she would have gotten your pattern. Now I can make them! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carolyn. I designed and published the Santa pattern on my blog only. It's not the same pattern as your Grandmothers - most likely similar because all Santa's look alike, but not the same. :)

ReplyDeleteyour Santa is very cute and we love him. But we cannot understand how you finish Santa's hat. Everything is o.k. until "...2 sc in next sc, ch 3," but what do you mean with "treble around last sc."? We are Germans and we cannot find a translation that fits to your pattern. Furthermore there are different meanings in US and UK. When we end up with a US treble crochet (in German: Doppelstaebchen) there is no connection of the treble crochet with the ch3 so we get a loop, is that correct? Could you explain that last step a little more detailed?

Hi Jorek. Yes you are correct - there is a sort of a loop with the ch3 and the treble. It is the space to glue the pom pom to. :)
