~ Jingle bells ~

Surfing the crochet blogs yesterday and came across this blog:

with this cute little decoration.  I had a go at it and here's my jingle bells garland.  It measures 45" long.  This project is so quick and easy - it can be done in just a few minutes.  :)

~ Fast or slow ~

I used to crochet fast.  Then one evening, while watching a mindless TV show, I realized that I had crocheted a whole round on a large granny blanket without even thinking.  ???  Now wait a minute - If I didn't realize it, then how could I possibly enjoy it?  That was when I decided to slow down and actually enjoy crocheting my pretty yarns into pretty items.  Placemats, dishcloths, potholders, pillows, blankets.  I enjoy them more when I can actually remember crocheting them  :)

~ Scrappy, scrap, scrap ~

Time to roll more scrap yarn - this one will be a scrappy granny.  I enjoy winding the yarn tidbits into a ready-to-crochet yarn cake - about as much as crocheting with it.  All the colors of the rainbow in one.  (this scrap yarn cake weighs 9 oz.)  :)

P.S.  I have a U-nitt TH7065 yarn winder.  I bought it on Ebay a little while back.  If you use a yarn winder to wind your scraps together, start with the smallest scrap - if you hand roll your scraps together, start with the largest scrap.  :) 

~ A snowflake ~

I crocheted this snowflake for a friend at work.  I found the pattern here:

~ Santa and a wreath ~

I crocheted these cute little ornaments over the last couple of afternoons.  I still need to decorate the wreath with some little red dots - beads, paint, something, I don't know - I have to see what I have.   :)

Wreath

- knit-cro-sheen
- 1 1/2" diameter plastic ring
- sz. 1 steel hook

Rnd 1:  Sc around plastic ring to completely cover - make sure you end up with an even number of sc's.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, sc in same sc, ch 6, *skip next sc, sc in next sc, ch 6.  Repeat from * around.

Rnd 3:  -this rnd will be worked in the skipped sc sts of rnd 2-
Sc in next sc, *ch 4, sc in next sc.  Repeat from * around.  Ch 30, join with a sl st to 1st sc.  End off.

Santa

- face color, white & red ww acrylic yarn
- I hook

Rnd 1:  With face color ch 3, 5 dc in 3rd ch from hook, work 1 more dc changing to white, work 6 more dc.  Join with a sl st to 1st dc.  (12 dc)

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, 2 sc in same dc, 2 sc in next 5 dc, (hdc, dc)in next dc, 2 dc in next 4 dc, (dc, hdc) in next dc.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.

Rnd 3:  Ch 1, turn, sc in the hdc, ch 2, *sc in next dc, ch 2.  Repeat from * 10 times, sc in the hdc, sl st in next sc.  End off.

-turn piece back around-

hat:
Join red with a sc in 2nd sc, sc in same st.  Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch 3, treble around last sc.  End off.

~ Round in circles blanket & cupcakes ~

I started a new project yesterday - it's a round in circles blanket using this idea:  http://hooksandyarns.blogspot.com/2010/01/round-in-circles-scarf.html .  I'm thinking on making it 10 circles long - I'll have to see.

These little circles are so quick to crochet - a great project for me to take when I'm waiting in the car for James' bus to arrive.  It's also a great way to use up alot of scraps.  :)

~ Afghans or blankets ~

I've crocheted countless afghans - sometimes I call them blankets.  I have no idea why.  I was thinking that maybe it was because of their size - medium ones are afghans, larger ones are blankets.  But I refer to baby ones as blankets most of the time though.  What is your preference?  :)

~ V2 hexagon afghan complete ~

I've finally finished my version 2 hexagon afghan - it measures 51" x 62".  This thing took me forever to do and I'm a little glad to be done with it.  Still not quite sure about the pink.  :)

~ Pink Christmas ~

Christmas decorating has started in my house.  This pretty little tree is in my crochet room.  The white tree and the two pots were purchased from The Dollar Tree.  The two pots are glued together and the tree is permanently affixed in the pot with plaster of paris.  Most of the ornaments are the clear glass ones purchased at Joann Fabrics that I have either added paint, glitter or ribbons to the inside.  I crocheted the little side tree and the doily is the CAL doily from crochet galore's blog.  :)

~ Another scrappy rr ~

I started this scrappy round ripple on a trip to the campground with the grandsons.

It sat for a little while in my crochet room waiting for a little more scraps.  I finished it off about 2 nights ago.  I crocheted it with various scraps of worsted weight acrylics - RHSS, Bernat, Vanna's, and such - and a J hook.  It measures 45" point to point. 

I just love the way the colors look when they're all mixed up like that.  :)
