(my son hates when I say that)
***The winner's names will be drawn at 6:00 p.m. Eastern time***
I stopped at the thrift store after work and look what I found. I got all of this for $20. Yay! The RHSS skeins are the 8 ounce skeins so they must've been stashed for a little while. (it's ok - I don't smell any smells and the yarn is clean).
(thanks to aluajala for a much better picture)
I was very happy when I spotted the yarn but it does kind of make me sad when I think about where it came from - some little old lady probably passed away or had to be moved to an old folk's home, so her family got rid of all her stuff. The circle of (yarn) life.
I've decided that I would like to share a little - so I'm having a giveaway. If you are a follower of my blog and you would like to have a chance to win 3 skeins of the RHSS (Red Heart Super Saver) please leave me a comment on this post only. I will choose 2 winners on Sunday (Feb. 20th). Good luck. :)

O-M-G is right; you struck the mother lode. I'd love to relieve you of some so please enter me in the giveaway. Sharon M.

Hi Ms.Debi. How wonderful! Please count me in..on a side note, I didn't get to comment on your last post...I really hope you don't change the way you are. I don't think I told you this but..here goes, make as short as posible. I use the site "crochet pattern central" alot. I found one of your patterns on there, the V stich baby wrap one. Going to this site I would go to that pattern and read your posts. Before this I didn't even know what a blog was. I liked your blog so much I eventually made my own and started going to your site from mine (much easier!! ) anyway, I love that your honest, thats hard to find in todays world..so it's only my opinion..but I hope you stay just the way you are! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI'd love to enter the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteYou can't have enough yarn, so please count me in. Maybe I got lucky!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day.

OMG, what fun. for some reason i never see yarn or needles at my thrift store. i guess i'm just not in the right place at the right time. it does make you wonder when you see knitted/crochet items at these places, i think of all of the hard work and enjoyment someone has put into an item and then someone just gets rid of it...breaks my heart.
ReplyDeleteHi Debi! I think I'm a follower, I'll have to check, but I have you on my blog roll and read you all the time. Count me in please! Thank you ma'am. :o) xoxo

Love thrift store finds yet I also wonder about their origins...but I like thinking that when I move on to heaven, someone who also loves yarn will get my stash and make pretty things out of it. :)
ReplyDeleteI just found a big basket (like a powder room wastepaper basket size) of baby yarn at the Goodwill, all the yarn AND the basket were under $4 -- I was stoked!
Glad you had a great find! :)
Great find Michele. :)
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I just never thought to go check out my local thrift stores for yarn. With as much as I macrochet and just give away that would probably be a good thing for my bank account. PLEASE add me to your give away!!

It is sad to think of why it ended up in a thrigt store. When my husband's aunt died, they gave all her yarn, hooks and needles to an assisted living home and it was several totes full. The ladies there were thrilled. I am always looking for deals so glad you found one.

What a lucky day you had. Oh I know...my daughter does not like it when I say anything that is anyway near today's sayings...guess we have to slink back into our caves where we originally came from :) I'd love to be entered in your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love your choice of colors in the projects you make.. they are so colorful..I've being crocheting for about 40 years and I just love the outcome of the project I'm working on...keep up with the beautiful work on what you make...sharon b.
ReplyDeleteI love looking and trying all of the patterns you have. I also love the idea of making the handles for crochet hooks. I am going to try and see if I can make them as pretty as yours.

My name is Tammy. After my daughter gave birth to our first grandchild, I found that I needed to change crafting projects from beading to crocheting. (Do not want my granddaughter finding beads on the carpet and swallowing them, hence the change in crafting projects.) Going back through my own stash, I found several skeins of RHSS yarn in 2.5 ounce skeins. Hard to believe that I still had them. Most in mixed (ombre) variations.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy scrolling through your blog and following along. I am considering, joining your Granny Square exchange for next time. Please advise when the next exchange will begin. Thanks. Looking forward to continued visits to your blog. Take care.
Thanks ladies. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Tammy - I'm thinking my next granny square swap will be around the beginning of February.
I missed the giveaway.. the yarn in your country sooo lovely..
ReplyDeleteWhere can I buy the crochet hook like yours?
