~ baby blankie #20 ~

I finished my straight up granny baby blankie last night but it's really a side to side granny.  I crocheted it with Red Heart Stripes 'sonoma' and I used Red Heart Super Saver in 'warm brown' for the border.  Neicee suggested I use the granny stitch for the border, so I did 2 rounds of that and 1 round of sc.  Thanks for the idea Neicee.  This little blankie measures 24" x 29".  :)

Since I now have 20 baby blankies, I think it's time to take them to the hospital.  I'm thinking next Monday or Tuesday.  I hope what happened to 'The Gingerbread Lady' doesn't happen to me - that would really suck.

  2. Great looking blanket Debi. Good luck with the hospital and if they can't use them, maybe a pregnancy center could? I know a lot of the centers have little stores where the girls earn points to "purchase" items. Have a great day. :-)

  3. Thanks everyone. :)

Heather - thanks for the idea. My husband used to volunteer at the Bowie Center so if the hospital doesn't take the blankies, I'll take them there. :)

  5. Love it Debi! Colors are so nice! The border came out amazing..I have had problems with some of my donations also. Some places are very picky.

  6. What a lovely afghan - the colors remind me of fall and I'm looking forward to it already ;-)

I tried to get the pattern for the Charity Daisy square but the yahoo group is not accepting any new members so I can't get the pattern....I wanted to make one for my neighbor (not to sell) but I guess I'll have to keep checking back and see if the group opens up ... I hope you won't get turned down because of allergies/germs! Life's gotten so complicated which is why I don't crochet baby and children's things any more unless for friends and neighbors who ask me for it. All these clauses and safety inspections have taken the fun out of handmade for selling!

  7. That's a boy blanky for sure isn't it? :o) Yea, I was wondering about that myself, donating blankies or hats, like preemi hats and they deny you because there might be allergens or germs. They don't know where they've been and you really can't blame them. You have to look at it from their point of view too.

  8. Thanks ladies. :)

To tell ya'll the truth, I didn't even think about allergens or germs. I'll definately call the hospital first.
