~ baby blankie 19b ~

Finished up this baby blankie last night.  I crocheted it with various brands of 4ply worsted weight acrylic for the middle circle and Loops & Threads Impeccable for the rest.  It measures 24" x 30" and I used the 'squircle v-3' pattern.

I like patterns that are toteable - I crocheted 5 of the circles while waiting with my nephew Spencer at the doctor's office.  Actually, I sat in my car while he was in there.  I find that that is more comfortable for me - and I don't take the risk of catching anyone else's sickness.  I also walked over to the McDonald's and got some coffee - so I was happy.

Speaking of doctor appointments - my nephew's appointment was at 2:00 - they didn't call his name until around 3:00.  Why do they overbook their appointments like that?  It's totally ridiculous.

Update on our fence problem - I'm going to go with the 6' white vinyl fence.  City of Bowie says that we will have to file for a variance on the zoning code and that will cost us $200.00 - and there's no guarantee that we will get it.  What!?!  Holy crap.  See - this is what happens when you follow the rules.  We have so many neighbors around here that have just simply done what they wanted to do with no consequences - i.e. neighbor behind us is taking up half of the right-of-way with his driveway - neighbor up the road has chickens and a rooster - neighbor down the side road has a used car lot in his back yard - and so on, and so on.  Sooooo irritating.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.  :)

  1. Your baby blanket is beautiful so pretty! It's the same over here for waiting in Doctors surgeries, I think people now just expect to wait regardless of appointment time, if I'm called in on time I'm in shock for the rest of the day lol

  3. Beautiful blanket Debi, you're so talented. Our doctors are the same over here. They can be as late as they want but god forbid if we are. Still, we would be lost without them. And well done you for just getting a coffee from McDonalds, I would have had an apple pie too, so delicious! xxx

  8. Goodness Debi, three topics in one post!! I think the Dr's office problem is more of an insurance thing. They make Dr's see patients now in like 15 min. segments and then when the Dr. is unable to competantly make decisions in that short of a time span--he gets behind, and behinder. If you have a good Dr. consider it a necesary evil to wait. After all, if he takes his time with YOU the guy behind you has to wait. No wonder we have a need for Docs. No one wants to do it anymore at the cost of education. Add to that Primary Care Docs are pretty much the lowest earning docs on the ladder.:-(

Your blankie is lovely and I may try it. I like that the holes are small. I absolutely LOVE your fuzzy join!! I have a lot of fuzzy yarn and haven't done alot. I think it is too much to make a whole blankie but the pillow join might be just what I am looking for to use my yarn. Thanks for such great ideas! Brenda

  11. Holy smokes! there is so much going on over here on your blog I am finding it hard to keep up, lol....first off, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! and wishing you many more. Then the fence, I really like it and don't it just figure that when you follow and do what is expected by the law you always have to pay dearly for it...what the heck that there are several neighbors who could care less and thumb their noses at the law and the rules. The baby blanket turned out adorable, but then all your pretty blankets turn out pretty and I am not surprised one bit. Any new mom would love to receive something so pretty to wrap her baby in.

  12. That's why I live like I do. I don't have to deal with stuff like that. I'm back off the road where no one can see me and I can see only a little bit of my neighbors. When you try to play by the rules you are the one to always get screwed. Fact of life that bites.

  14. The baby blankie is great. I think I will add it to my list of projects. I know what you mean about planning. We have a tiny lane down the side of our house which gives access to our rear garden. The council allowed 6 houses to be built with access onto this lane and have now decided it was an error on their part! if we want to put gates there we have to give up a metre of our garden the whloe length of the lane!! crazy. And ours isnt a new house it was built 1820 and most probably has accessed through the lane end originally.
