Finished up this baby blankie last night. I crocheted it with various brands of worsted weight acrylic yarns (RHSS, Impeccable, Vanna's and Bernat) and a 'J' hook. It measures 30" square.
It's a giant granny square worked with a color row, white row, color row, white row, and so on.
The border is 1 round of sc in the ch-1 space, ch 3, sc in the next ch-1 space with (sc, ch 3, sc) in each corner space. The 2nd round is sc evenly around with 3 sc in each corner ch-3 space. The 3rd round is ch 4, skip next sc, dc in next sc, ch 1, then it will be (skip next sc, dc in next sc, ch 1) with (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in each middle sc of the corners. The 4th round is sc in each dc and ch-1 space around with (sc, ch 1, sc) in each middle dc of the corners.
For the finish, I wove a 1/4" a ribbon through the dc, ch 1 round. The ribbon was tied into a knot before I tied the bow. :)

ReplyDeleteIt is real big Granny's square - very cool(rather I should say warm:)), sweet and colourful! The granny who made it is also same !;)
ReplyDeleteVery nice...thanks for sharing...I'm working on the headband pattern, my daughter wanted it done in chocolate brown and pink bow....very easy to follow...glad I purchased it from you...
ReplyDeleteIt did turn out nice. Ribbon will spruce it up even more, but it looks good just as it is, so either way works. Always love to come visit you Debi to see what is happening here.
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
I love the border! It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe blanket turned out wonderfully! Alternating the color rows with white rows gives it a light, cheery look. I'll have to remember that idea. How will you secure the ribbon so little fingers cant pull it out and it becomes a hazard? How long did it take to make.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Hi Cynthia. I tied the ribbon into a knot before I tied the bow. I worked on this between other projects, so it took a few weeks. :)
DeleteDebi,
DeletePlease add this blanket to our Baby Link party, and as many others as you have made.
Cynthia
Oh and thanks for posting the border instructions!
