~ James, a giveaway win, a hat & a sale ~

Vince and I went to James' school for Grandparent's Day on Monday.  It was a nice celebration.  When we first got there - we waited outside for a bit and then we were all herded into the cafeteria for a small presentation and for breakfast treats and coffee.  The parent volunteers did a great job with that - everything was delicious.  We were sent along to the classes shortly after and when we got to James' class, he wasn't there.  He had gone to a computer class with a few other classmates.  (computers in 1st grade - that's amazing to me.)  James and his classmates came back and took their seats and I wanted to take James' picture, so I moved a little closer and saw this - my little bad boy is the 'Star Student' for the week.  I smiled the biggest smile and gave him a hug and kiss (at this age they don't mind when you do that in front of everyone) - I'm so proud of him.  :)

Last Friday, I was very fortunate to win one of Bev's (of 'One Yarn After Another') giveaways - and I received my prize in the mail yesterday.  Thank you so much Bev.  I'm thinking that this yarn will be made into a baby blankie.  :)
I finally crocheted yesterday and it felt good.  I made a hat for my great-neice Lena and I think it came out real cute.  So cute that I'm going to make a few more for the pregnancy center.

Kathryn of 'Crochet Concupiscence' is having a 24 hr. sale on her book 'Crochet Saved my Life' in honor of National Crochet Day today.  Visit her blog to get the code to save 30% on your purchase of a copy.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope everyone has a great crochet day.  :)

  2. Congratulations to James! Love that yarn you won from Bev, it will definitely make a great baby blanket.

I really love that hat, can you share where you got the pattern?

    1. Thanks Sandy - the pattern is something I did. I will write it up and post it as soon as I can. :)

  3. Congrats Debi on your grandson's achievement:) he is a smart and cute kid.

I just saw your craft section, it never occurred to me that sculpey clay can be used to make crochet hook handles. I have now got another idea to use the clay than just making jewellary and flowers. We don't get this clay in India easily, so I asked my husband to get loads of them from London when he went for his business meeting.

  4. I have eaten lunch with my grandsons several times. Don't all those little kids make you feel old? Congratulations on winning the giveaway.

  5. Nice win from Bev. She is a very generous person and a nice blog. Why do they do grandparents day so early..they do it here at all us grandparents get up that early, not me, sleep in, stay up late. Lunch would be so much better for, like they will amend their schedule for me. Anyway, give the grandson a hug from this grandma and tell him to keep up the good work. Blessings

  6. Congratulations to your grandson Debi, he looks so sweet. Your hat is really cute and I'm sure will be appreciated. Congratulations on reaching 1,001 members on your blog, what a great milestone! Hope you have a great day. Heather

  7. Thank you all very much. :)

Thanks Heather - I didn't realize that until you said something. That makes me smile. :)

  8. Congrats to your grandson! That's wonderful they have a Grandparent's Day at the school.

  9. Your grandson is a cutie. So nice of the school to celebrate grandparents. And so nice of you to crochet for a cause. Best wishes, Tammy

  10. Yay, back on track! :) Absolutely adorable hat!
