~ baby blankie 3c ~

I finished this blankie up a couple nights ago, and let me tell you I was glad about that.  For some reason, I just did not like working on this blankie.  It was all I could do just to finish it.

It measures 32" across and I crocheted it with Loops & Threads Impeccable white and the other two are from mill-end bags (which I believe are Hobby Lobby's 'I Love This Yarn!') that I bought from AC Moore.

Thanks for stopping by - have a great day.  :)

~ winning stuff & beautiful stuff ~

On the day I left for the campground, I received in the mail my prize that I won from a giveaway that Madeleine of 'Yarn Madness' hosted.  Along with the 'Crazy Zauberball', she also sent me 2 large decorative buttons and a bar of spiced vanilla soap.  I love everything Madeleine - thank you very much.  :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
During my 2 1/2 days at the campground, this is all I could manage to crochet:
And the reason is because I was very busy crafting other things with my sisters Teri and Laura.  Here are a couple things I worked on:
We also crafted some fancy candleholders and a Unity candle.  Unfortunately, we didn't get pictures of them.
My sister Teri (she's the blonde standing up) had already crafted the veil and a very pretty flower arrangement before Laura (the one kneeling) and I arrived.
All of this work was for Laura's son Spencer and his new wife Berlyn.  They were married in a small ceremony at my sister Julie's campsite on Saturday.  And I have to give props to Julie and her husband Frankie - they cooked up the most delicious food - and there was plenty of it.  There was shrimp, chicken, hamburgers, hot-dogs, chicken salad, potato salad, mac and cheese, pasta salad, green beans, cut corn, and corn-on-the-cob (I think I might be forgetting a couple things), and I'll tell you what - I think I gained 5 pounds just standing there looking at everything.  There was also plenty of drinks and we certainly needed that - it was quite hot outside.
All-in-all, it was a lovely ceremony and a lovely day - and here is the lovely couple:
Mr. & Mrs. Spencer Hayden
Now if you'll excuse me - I have to go take a nap.  :)
~ WIP Wednesday ~
I'm hooking up with Stephanie at 'Simply Crochet and Other Crafts' for WIP Wednesday.  Here are 2 projects that I'm working on.  The first one is a doily I'm working with Baker's twine - it's not photographing very well.
And the second one is a baby blankie I started a couple of days ago.  I'm using Loops & Threads Impeccable for the white and the other 2 colors are from mill-end bags that I bought from AC Moore.  Those 2 yarns feel very much like Hobby Lobby's 'I Love This Yarn!' - same shiney look and same very soft feel.
Speaking of ILTY! - I have a suspicion that the little 1.75 oz. variegated skeins I bought from AC Moore yesterday are also ILTY!.  I'm crocheting granny squares for SIBOL with those.
Thanks for coming by to visit me - have a great day.  :)
~ keep calm ~
That's all we can try to do.  :)
p.s. this was on the gift bag that my gifts came in from Erica.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I crafted aother thread holder - this one is double.  These thread holders work best with cones - I had to add a toilet paper roll to the inside of the knit-cro-sheen to help protect the thread.  I still like it though - keeps the thread from bouncing around.

~ my blogging friends granny square blanket ~

First, I must say that this has been alot of fun for me.  I would very much like to thank all my blogging friends that participated in my 'blogging friends granny square blanket' swap.  And they are:

* Marion of 'Marion's bunte Handarbeitswelt'
* Renee of 'Renee's Crochet'
* Cynthia of 'TwoLuLa'
* Grace Ann of 'Would You Like Yarn With That?'
* Emma of 'The Log Cabin'
* Palynsea (no blog)
* Christy of 'Crochet Happiness'
* Pat of 'Hooks and Books'
* Sarah of 'Crochet by Sarah'
* Holly Louise of 'Crafty Holly Louise'
* Sherri of 'CrochetnQuilt'
* Red of 'Red Crochets'
* Rob of 'Men Crochet 2'
* Tara of 'Little Things'
* Bev of 'One Yarn After Another'
* Stephanie of 'Simply Crochet and Other Crafts'

To see all the individual squares that were sent to me, click on this link - 'granny square swap'

Here are all the squares laid out on my craft room floor ready to be sewn together.  I started on the vertical seams first.

Then it was on to the horizontal seams.

I had to take quite a few breaks because working on the floor was very hard on my knees and my hips - this old granny was feeling the pain.  :)

I finished the sewing in the evening while watching NCIS re-runs.

Working on the border - which is 1 round of hdc followed by 1 round of sc, ch 3, skip next hdc, sc in next hdc.  I wanted something simple.

And here it is - it measures 34" x 53" - a perfect size to keep me warm while sitting on the couch.  :)

I added a '4-hearts square' to the bottom left - I thought it would be a very appropriate square for a friendship blanket.  <3

Thanks for stopping by - have a great day.  :)

~ pink flower doily pattern now for sale ~

The pattern for the 'pink flower doily' is now for sale on my 'patterns for sale' page.

This doily is crocheted with 2 colors of baker's twine - pink/white and green/white with a size 1 steel hook.  It measures 13" across.  If you would prefer to use thread, Paula and trinity8419 very kindly informed me that size 3 crochet thread is close in size to the baker's twine.

I started this doily with a little flower, followed by a ring of leaves.  From there I added 2 rounds of open-shell stitch, some chain loops, and then finished with another round of the open-shell stitch.  I enjoyed creating this doily and I hope you will to.

If you are interested, just click on the 'patterns for sale' button underneath my blog header and you will be taken to that page.  Thank you very much for your support.  :)

~ a question please ~

Does anyone out there have baker's twine and size 3 thread?  I need to know if their sizes are the same.  I purchased baker's twine from cutetape.com - it is supposedly the same twine that the bakeries use on the cake and pie boxes that you buy at the grocery store bakery.  If you can help me out with this, I would very much appreciate it.  Thank you so much.  :)
