~ Two on Tuesday ~

Two things that make me smile:

*  coming home after a few days at the campground.  I love the campground, but it's always good to be home.

(found this cool looking totem pole in one of the other Glens)

(I almost stepped on this tiny little fella - look down a little under Vince's hand)

*  watching my dogs eat peanut butter - the face they make is hilarious.  The reason I'm giving them peanut butter is because Tex is on medication for a bad allergic reaction and that is the only way he will take his pills - and of course I have to give Ladybug some peanut butter too or she will feel left out.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I did a little crocheting while I was at the campground - motifs for a baby blanket and a placemat.  I'll probably post the pattern for the placemat in a couple of days.
Thanks for dropping by.  :)
~ a granny bag ~
(who's old lady hands are those?)
This pattern was an easy one to crochet until I got to the top part.  Jeez - that was tricky.  I crocheted it with Red Heart classic blue variegated and a 'J' hook.  I also lined it.  The purse handles were salvaged from a thrift store purse that I bought for $1.90.  The lining was hot glued in - and yes, that works out fine - I've done it before and the lining is still holding strong.
Here's the link to the pattern for the bag:
~ new purse & my hooks ~
Finished up this bag yesterday - I crocheted it with a 2-ply bulky yarn that I had bought at Michaels.  It was in a mill-ends bag, so I don't know what brand it was.
It's very quick and easy to do - all you need is:
* 6 oz. 2-ply bulky acrylic yarn
* a pair of 7" plastic rings (I bought mine from Ebay)
* two 22" pieces of ribbon
* an 'L' hook
Sc around 1 ring 41 times.  Ch 1, turn.
Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat for 32 rows.  At the end of the 32nd row, end off.
Repeat for other ring.
Put wrong sides together and starting at the 8th row on the right side and matching up stitches, whipstitch together all the way around till you get to the 8th row on the left side.  End off.
Weave 1 ribbon through the stitches of the 9th row on the front.
Weave 1 ribbon through the stitches of the 9th row on the back.
Tie the ends into a bow.
And there you go - a new purse to carry on your trips to the craft store.  :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've shown ya'll my crochet handle hook collection before (the ones I've made) - but every good crocheter worth her weight in yarn always has a good collection of all kinds of hooks.  Here's mine:

Pretty cool, huh?

~ Two on Tuesday & my view ~

Two things that make me smile:

*  a little doggie in a dress ------- Vince and I took Tex to the vet yesterday and a lady came in with a little tiny dog wearing a dress with a bow on her head.  I just thought that was the cutest.  The only thing though is that the lady constantly kissed the little dog - it got kind of weird after a few minutes.  I love my dogs Tex and Ladybug, but I'm not gonna get freaky with them.

* a new square - I'll probably get the pattern up sometime in the next day or two.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My view from the floor while I'm waiting for the glue gun to heat up (I was laying down):
No, I'm not just being lazy.  I had already vacuumed, emptied and then loaded up the dishwasher and had a couple loads of laundry going.  I just wanted to take a rest.   :)
~ baby blankie 5c ~
Finished up this little baby blankie last night - I started the squares a few weeks back when we were at the campground with the boys.  The round granny squares were crocheted with various brands of 4-ply worsted weight acrylics and I used Loops & Threads Impeccable for the flat braid joining.  You can find the link for the flat braid joining on the right sidebar.  I didn't use a particular pattern for the round granny squares - but here are a few links to some of the patterns out there:
http://theroyalsisters.blogspot.com/2010/04/grandma-all-square-tutorial.html
http://blairpeter.typepad.com/weblog/2012/02/a-granny-square-with-a-circle-center-tutorial.html
http://www.whereyourheartis.net/en/2010/02/27/circle-granny-squares-howto/
This little blankie measures 26" x 30" and I crocheted it with a 'J' hook.  I like crocheting these types of blankies with all the different colors for the squares - it helps to use up some of those small balls of yarn that always seem to pop up when you're not looking.  And they're a great take-along project - except my problem is always trying to decide how many little balls of yarn to take with me.  Do I take 3, or 4, or 5? - oh heck, I'll take 10 - it's better to be prepared.
Thanks for dropping by to visit - hope you have a good day.  :)
~ Two on Tuesday ~
Two things that make me smile:
* an unexpected trip to Michaels - yesterday, Vince and Bobby wanted to go to Wendy's for an early dinner and Michaels just happens to be 2 stores up from there.  I went in for a quick look around and bought 5 pretty butterfly drawer knobs and 3 skeins of yarn.
* our neighbor Bill gifting us with pretty plants for our yard.
~ Two on Tuesday ~
Two things that make me smile:
* the peace and quiet of an early morning
* a RAOK = Vince and Bobby went to Sports Authority yesterday to buy a bike - while they were standing in the check-out line, a man in the next check-out line reached over and gave Vince a coupon for 25% off.  That was so super nice of that man to do that.  Bobby got a new bike and Vince saved money - everyone's happy.
~ baby blankie 4c (ferris wheel) & a threads giveaway ~
Ferris Wheel
Finally finished this baby blankie last night.  Jeez - it felt like it was taking forever.  I tried to keep the pattern flat, but towards the end it got a little ruffley.  Oh well.  It measures 32" across and I crocheted it with Red Heart Super Saver and Loops & Threads Impeccable yarns.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

**THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED**

I went through some fancy threads that I had bought off of Ebay quite a while back and these are what I don't need.  Some are sparkly, some are shiney, some are plain.  Most of these threads have been opened and used a little - there's only about 4 that haven't been.  If you are interested in a chance to win these threads, be a follower of my blog and leave a comment on this post only - I will draw a name on Monday morning 9:00 a.m. Eastern time.  I'm very sorry to have to say that this giveaway will have to be for the U.S. only.

~ everything's good now ~

The storm that came through Friday evening really did a number around our area, but thankfully our electricity is back on now and everything's good with us.  There is still hundreds of thousands that are without power, so I will be sure to say a prayer for them.  No electricity in 90+ degree weather is just plain horrible.  Thank you ladies for all your kind words - here are some flowers for you.  :)

p.s.  there is a new board up for 'Did you make that?'.
