~ baby hats ~

These are the baby hats that I've crocheted so far.
I still need to add cards to a few of them.
The little cards have printed on them:
~ Dly's baby hats & blankies ~
~ just a little hug ~
~ machine wash and dry ~
***********
On the other side of the cards are cartoon characters of little kids.  Reminds me of the Japanese anime a little bit.
I bought the mini cards from Moo.com
I'm going to the campground tomorrow morning to spend the week cleaning and decorating.  I figured that since the kids are grown (mostly), it's high time that the place looked pretty too.  I'll take before and after pics to show ya'll when I get back - but don't expect too much change.
I'm of course taking lots of yarn with me to crochet more baby hats and a baby blankie - I suppose I'm gonna be real busy.  :)

~ I have a few questions ~

Does anyone out there own a Maytag high efficiency top-loading washer? Can ya'll help me out with a couple problems I am having with my laundry?  A few months ago, we bought a Maytag h e washer and now our t-shirts have grey stains around the front underarm areas.  It's horrible looking.  We are still using the same deodorants we have been using for years, so it can't be that - and besides, we don't sweat that much for goodness sakes.

The other problem is that after I wash a load of laundry it smells like it wasn't even washed.  I'm using Tide Pods for high efficiency washers in the 'Spring Meadow' scent, but I can't tell it.

I have been doing laundry for around 35 years and have never had these problems.

I contacted Maytag customer service and they can't help me.  They asked me questions like "are you loading the machine correctly?"  "do you have the hoses hooked up correctly?"   Stupid.  I am quite disappointed with this Maytag washer and I'm very angry that I'm now stuck with this for the next five years or so.

Any advice you can give me would be appreciated very much.  Thanks ladies.  :)

***eta = this is a top loading machine and I leave the lid open to let the inside dry out when I'm finished the washing.

Tomorrow I'm going to use 2 pods instead of 1 to see if that will help.

~ Two on Tuesday ~

Two things that make me smile:

- a new toilet for our camping trailer.  I know this sounds yukky, but I'm going to the campground by myself and I'm happy that I won't have to use the bathhouse across the street at night.

- crocheting baby hats because they're so darn cute.  A few are for my new great-nephew that will be here soon, and the rest will be for the pregnancy center.  :)

~ my great-nephews blankie ~

~~~flowers in the grass~~~
***eta = my sister Laura wants this blankie for her grandson that's coming in November, so it's no longer included in my baby blankie donation.***
Just finished sewing together the squares to make this baby blankie.  Jeez, what a pain.  I much prefer join-as-you-go methods.
I crocheted the middles with various brands of worsted weight acrylic yarns - RHSS, Vanna's, Bernat, ILTY! and Loops & Threads.  The variegated green is Herrschners brand - the color name is 'leaf delight'.  The Herrschners brand is very much like RHSS - I have the blankie in the dryer with a damp towel now to see if it softens up.  I really hope so.  I'll come back and let ya'll know.
***eta = the blanket did get softer, but not as soft as the RHSS does.  I might try again with a wetter towel.
Forgot to mention - this little blankie measures 30" square.  :)
~ how embarrassing & a change ~
I was checking my stats and clicked on one of the links to check it out.  How embarrassing is this? - someone said my 'wiggles preemie baby blankie' looks like a bathmat.  Well - it is a little funny.  Just a little.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm kinda slowing down with the baby blankies I'm crocheting, so I decided to also crochet little hats.  I will mostly be making the hats, but I'll always have a blankie in the making.  It's been a little while since I've made a donation to the pregnancy center, so I need to get busy.

Thanks for popping in - have a good evening.  :)

~ nook cover & a wip ~

I crocheted this nook cover with 2-ply bulky yarn and a 'K' hook.  It's just a simple sc all around.  The yarn I bought at AC Moore - it came in a mill-ends bag so I don't know what brand it is.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been working on this doily for quite a while now - just can't seem to get into it.  I'm using variegated pink and white held together.  I need to finish it soon because I have a couple more projects that I'd like to start.
Thanks for stopping by - I hope everyone has a great day.  :)
~ Two on Tuesday ~
Two things that make me smile:
* a joke from my husband - actually this one made me laugh out loud.  We were out running around yesterday and decided to go to Target.  I picked out a new bike seat for my bike - it's from Schwinn and it's called an extra wide saddle.  Vince told me I needed that because it's an extra wide saddle for an extra wide beeee-hind.  He's so funny.
*  daydreaming about buying another lot and trailer at the campground - I would make it look so pretty.  :)
~ handlebar tassels ~
I need to fancy up my bike a little so I made handlebar tassels.  I think they're so stinkin' cute.  Ha-ha.  They only took a few minutes to make - and if you want to make a pair, here's how:
What you will need:
- 2 ponytail elastics
- worsted weight acrylic yarns in whatever colors you would like
- an 'I' hook
To make:
Ch 35, sc around the ponytail elastic, ch 35.  End off.
Repeat as many times as you would like.
Now go and wrap these babies around your handlebars just like you would for a ponytail.  I guarantee that they will put a smile on your face.  :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Vince told me that mountain bikes are not supposed to be pretty.  Whatever - I don't climb mountains anyway - I only ride up and down the side street with James.

p.s.  Vince found this bike for me at a thrift store for $40.00

~ Boye hooks giveaway ~

*****this giveaway is closed*****

Hi everyone.  I recently went thru all my crochet hooks and I have all these Boye crochet hooks to give away to two (2) lucky winners.  One winner will receive the hooks on the left and one winner will receive the hooks on the right.

If you would like a chance to win, be a follower of my blog and leave a comment on this post only.  I will draw a winner on Wednesday, Aug. 8th at around 10:00 am Eastern time.  This giveaway is open to overseas crocheters too.  Good luck to all.  :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My daughter brought over some bags of t-shirts that a friend had given her - the bags are from a store called 'Loft'.  Fancy, fancy.  The handles of the bags are either nice ribbons or fancy ropes.  Man - I've been shopping at the wrong stores.  The bags I get are plastic and end up with at least 2 holes in them by the time I get home.  That saying 'you get what you pay for' comes to mind.
Whatever t-shirts my husband and son don't want will be made into crafty stuff.  I'm thinking t-shirt yarn to crochet into a rug.  I don't know - we'll see.
~ a baby cocoon and a hook ~
I crocheted this little baby cocoon for my nephew's baby that will be here around the beginning of November.  They say it's going to be a boy, but we (my sister Laura and I) are still hoping for a girl.
For this cocoon, I used Bernat Pipsqueak 'sittin pretty' and an 'L' hook.  Since the yarn is bulky it didn't take too much time to crochet it, but it was a little tricky since it's a novelty yarn with lot's of little strings on it.  Another thing about the yarn - it stinks.  It has some kind of chemical smell to it.  The whole time I crocheted with it, it bothered me.  I almost threw it away a couple of times, but I figured that a run through the wash machine would get the stink out, and I was right.  After about an hour and a half in the dryer, it was ready to go in a gift bag to await the new baby's arrival.  I hope the new parents will like it.  :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I made myself another crochet hook handle.  This one is a size D which I indented into the top before baking because the size is not imprinted on the thumb rest like it usually is.

I used Sculpey pink pearl and then blended in Fimo glitter red.  I should of used less of the red because it quickly took over the pink colorIt's ok though - I still like it.  :)
