~ baby bunting ~

My nephew Spencer and his wife Berlyn are expecting a baby boy around the beginning of November.  My sister Laura (Spencer's mother) will be hosting a baby shower soon, so I crocheted this baby bunting to use as a decoration.  After the shower, Berlyn can hang it on the wall if she'd like.

This bunting was very easy to crochet.  It's just half circles with the hanging line single crocheted evenly across the tops.  The baby's name is spelled out with 1" alphabet buttons that I bought at Joann Fabrics.  I glued the buttons on first, and then went back and sewed them.  You have to have that extra security when you're making things that will be around babies.

Thanks for dropping by - I hope everyone's having a good weekend.  :)

~ baby blankie 6c ~

Finished up this baby blankie last night.  I crocheted it with various brands of worsted weight acrylic yarns (RHSS, Impeccable, Vanna's and Bernat) and a 'J' hook.  It measures 30" square.

It's a giant granny square worked with a color row, white row, color row, white row, and so on.

The border is 1 round of sc in the ch-1 space, ch 3, sc in the next ch-1 space with (sc, ch 3, sc) in each corner space.  The 2nd round is sc evenly around with 3 sc in each corner ch-3 space.  The 3rd round is ch 4, skip next sc, dc in next sc, ch 1, then it will be (skip next sc, dc in next sc, ch 1) with (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in each middle sc of the corners.  The 4th round is sc in each dc and ch-1 space around with (sc, ch 1, sc) in each middle dc of the corners.

For the finish, I wove a 1/4" a ribbon through the dc, ch 1 round.  The ribbon was tied into a knot before I tied the bow.  :)

~ Two on Tuesday ~

Two things that make me smile:

*  the NCIS season premier is coming on tonight (nobody better bother me)

*  Erica and Bobby (my daughter and son) ganging up together and teasing me about my little quirks - (it's good to laugh together)

~ a CAL mini ~

Stephanie of 'Simply Crochet and Other Crafts' is hosting a mini crochet along.  She's also hosting a CAL for an afghan if you're interested in a larger crochet project.  Hop on over to check it all out.

I joined the mini CAL and I finished up my dishcloth last night.  It was quick and easy to do and I enjoyed crocheting it.  :)

~ blooming violet square ~

I sat down and worked up this popcorn square today.  It is inspired by the popcorn square blanket that originated on dottie angel's blog - here is the post:

http://dottieangel.blogspot.com/2011/05/bit-of-lo-and-beholdness-in-shed.html

Everyone liked the blanket so Mille Makes figured out the pattern and posted it here:

http://millemakes.wordpress.com/2011/05/22/something-pretty-the-pattern/

Here's where I need your opinion - since my square is different, but obviously inspired by the dottie angel blanket square, do you think it is alright to post my popcorn square pattern?

eta:  Thanks to all my blogging friends that left me their comments.  Since my square is different (on every round), I have decided to post my pattern.  I hope ya'll enjoy it.  :)

~ James, a giveaway win, a hat & a sale ~

Vince and I went to James' school for Grandparent's Day on Monday.  It was a nice celebration.  When we first got there - we waited outside for a bit and then we were all herded into the cafeteria for a small presentation and for breakfast treats and coffee.  The parent volunteers did a great job with that - everything was delicious.  We were sent along to the classes shortly after and when we got to James' class, he wasn't there.  He had gone to a computer class with a few other classmates.  (computers in 1st grade - that's amazing to me.)  James and his classmates came back and took their seats and I wanted to take James' picture, so I moved a little closer and saw this - my little bad boy is the 'Star Student' for the week.  I smiled the biggest smile and gave him a hug and kiss (at this age they don't mind when you do that in front of everyone) - I'm so proud of him.  :)

   Last Friday, I was very fortunate to win one of Bev's (of 'One Yarn After Another') giveaways - and I received my prize in the mail yesterday.  Thank you so much Bev.  I'm thinking that this yarn will be made into a baby blankie.  :)

I finally crocheted yesterday and it felt good.  I made a hat for my great-neice Lena and I think it came out real cute.  So cute that I'm going to make a few more for the pregnancy center.

~ 'made with love' giveaway ~

Angelique of 'made with love' is hosting a great giveaway.  Hop on over to enter for your chance to win.  :)

For some reason, blogger is not letting me upload the photo of Angelique's giveaway prize - it is a really nice tote bag and a cute little birdie.

Update on my washing machine woes - I am using 4 Tide pods (when they are gone I will be using Purex Natural Elements), and have switched my machine to deep clean, heavy wash with an extra rinse.  It runs for approximately an hour.  What a piece of junk.  I absolutely do not recommend the Maytag Centennial h e top loader to anyone.

Thanks to everyone for your advice.  :)

I've lost my crochet mojo - I haven't crocheted in 3 days and I have no urge to do so.  Hopefully this won't last much longer.  If anyone finds it, can you send it back to me please?

~ I'm back ~

Hi everyone - I'm back from the campground.  I had a nice time and I'm already planning my next trip because I did not get done what I wanted to get done.  The living room, dining room and bedroom curtains need to either be replaced or dyed - I'm not sure which way to go on that.  The bathroom wasn't finished either - I need to buy 2 more clear plastic containers for storage.  The kitchen was the only room that was completely finished.  I also did a lot of cleaning which you can't really tell from the pictures.  And speaking of pictures - sorry that they are blurry - I think my camera is about ready to die on me.  I'm really disappointed because most of the before and after pics had to be trashed.  I'll get more when I go back.

These are the before pictures of the kitchen:

These are the afters:

Here's the living room - which looks the same except it's a little neater and cleaner:

The dining room - which also looks the same except for being neater and cleaner:

Vince made this table a few years ago to replace the original table that was broken when one of the boys sat on it.

Here's a plant hanger I made for the bedroom:

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My sister Laura, her son Travis, neice Brittany, brother-in-law Frankie and his kids came up to the campground on Thursday.  We went to the pool on Friday (I stayed in the 3 ft. and 4 ft. section).
Brittany and Travis
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here's a couple lots around the campground that I found interesting.

This one I think the lady went just a little bit overboard with the plastic flowers.  Doesn't look bad though - looks nice.

Quick - what is this owner's favorite color?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Between cleaning the trailer and riding around in the golf cart, I did manage to get some crocheting done.  I made little hats and started working on a baby blankie.  (sorry, blurry pics again)
All in all, I had a nice relaxing time - but it's good to be home.  :)
