~ 2 more baby hats ~

I've made 2 more baby hats for the Pregnancy Center.  I've also started a round ripple baby blankie for the Center, but it's going slow.  The back of my car is starting to get filled up, so I'll be needing to make a delivery soon.

The baby hat on the left is kind of a mess up.  I grabbed a variegated skein and the brown when Vince and I went to the campground last Saturday (we brought the golf cart home for maintenance).  I thought the variegated would look nice as the top of a cupcake, but I was wrong.  It doesn't work at all.  So I didn't add the cherry pompom.  It will just be a regular hat.  

The hat on the right is an open-shell hat.  Very quick and easy to crochet.

These 2 patterns are my favorites to crochet.  :)

Two things that make me smile:

*  Yesterday (the 26th) was my 51st birthday.  Let me tell you, time just seems to go by too fast - I remember my 30th birthday just like it was last week or something.  For my gifts, I received a Fujifilm Instax mini 7S camera, 2 t-shirts and a gift card to Bed, Bath and Beyond.  I never get yarn - everyone thinks I have too much already or they don't know which yarn to buy.  No matter - I just buy my own. 

* We celebrated my birthday on Sunday.  My hubby Vince and daughter Erica invited all the family members out to dinner.  There were 18 of us (19 if you count baby Asher) and we all had such a great time.  Lots of eating, laughing and baby holding.  I loved it so much, that I think this will be the way to celebrate my birthday every year.  :)

~ lavender love - a square for SIBOL ~

Materials:
- 4-ply worsted weight acrylic
- I hook

Size:  6" square

Notes:
- I crochet tight, so you may need to adjust the size of your crochet hook
- beginning cluster: ch 2, yo, insert hook in space, yo, pull thru, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, insert hook in same space, yo, pull thru, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, pull thru last 3 loops.
- cluster: yo, insert hook in space, yo, pullthru, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, insert hook in same space, yo, pull thru, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, insert hook in same space, yo, pullthru, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, pull thru last 4 loops.

Directions:
Rnd 1:  Ch 4 (make your 1st chain a little looser), 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, 2 dc in same ch, ch 2.  (3 dc, ch 2) in same ch 3 more times.  Join with a sl st to top of beginning ch 4.

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in next dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 space.  *sc in next 3 dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 space.  Repeat from * 2 more times.  Sc in next dc.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.  

Rnd 3:  Beginning cluster, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner ch-2 space.  *ch 2, skip next 3 sts, cluster in next sc, skip next 3 sts, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner ch-2 space.  Repeat from * 2 more times, ch 2.  Join with a sl st to top of beginning cluster.

Rnd 4:  Ch 1, sc in same st as joining.  Sc in each st around with 2 sc in each ch-2 space and (sc, ch 1, sc) in each corner ch-2 space.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.

Rnd 5:  Ch 4, skip next sc, dc in next sc, (ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next sc) 2 times, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-1 space, dc in next sc.  {*ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next sc.  Repeat from * across.  (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-1 space, dc in next sc.}  Repeat directions between the brackets 2 more times.  (ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next sc) 2 times, ch 1, join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 4.

Rnd 6:  Ch 3, dc in next 6 dc and ch-1 spaces, ch 1, skip next 2 dc, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner ch-2 space.  *ch 1, skip next 2 dc, dc in the next 13 dc & ch-1 spaces, ch 1, skip next 2 dc, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner ch-2 space.  Repeat from * 2 more times.  Ch 1, skip next 2 dc, dc in next 6 dc & ch-1 spaces.  Join with a sl st to top of beginning ch 3.

Rnd 7:  Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in each dc and ch-1 space around with (sc, ch 2, sc) in each corner ch-2 space.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.  End off.

If desired, weave a 22" long ribbon through the stitches of Rnd 5.

~ Two on Tuesday ~

Two things that make me smile:

* Vince and I went to the campground Saturday morning to winterize the trailer.  We had a great time getting things done and I even crocheted a baby hat.  We watched "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and I have to say that that was a weird movie.  And long.  It was 2 hrs. and 45 mins. long. 

We spent the night and I woke up Sunday morning sick as a dog.  Jeez - it was horrible.  I had no idea it was coming either - I felt fine all day Saturday.  So this leads me to the #2 reason that makes me smile -

* I'm feeling a lot better today.  :)

Two things that make me smile:

* new pink shoes I bought when I was at the campground - they were only $8

* being finally finished with my new craft room. 

My Vince did a great job patching up the holes from the shelves and then painting the room.  I helped a little, but he did most of the work.

For about 5 days, my house was a total mess with all of my yarn and craft stuff strewn about.  Here's a few pictures.

After 2 days of painting - 2 coats and the trim - it took me about 3 days to figure out how to get everything back in the room.  We added the bunk beds and they took up a lot of the floor space.

I still have to buy a twin mattress for the top, but for now it'll do.  There are 4 containers under the bunk bed holding more yarn.

As soon as you walk in and turn to the right, there is my desk and the large shelves on the wall:

And this is my closet.  My clothes are in here because my husband takes up the closet in our bedroom with his dress clothes, regular clothes and work uniforms.  And as you can tell from the small amount of room that my clothes take up - I'm definitely not a 'fashionista'.  I think I need to get my daughter Erica to take me shopping.  :)

I love my craft room and I hope to never, ever, ever, ever re-paint or add any other furniture again.  :)

~ Baby Asher ~

Little man made his debut at around 2:30 in the morning Nov. 2nd.  He's 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 20 3/4" long.  His Momma Berlyn is doing good - poor thing was in labor about 16 1/2 hours - but Laura says she handled it very well.  This is my sister Laura who is a Grandma for the 1st time.  She's very happy.  :)
