There really hasn't been too much smiling going on around here, but I did have my spirits lifted by:
* all of my blogging friends - your words of comfort really helped a lot
* Kathryn of 'Crochet Concupiscence' has very kindly awarded my blog one of her '2012 Awesome Crochet Blog Awards' for 'most genuine blogger'. Here is the link to the post:

and I also received an email from Nicola Trumbull, Editor of
AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns informing me that my 'wiggles square' was a '2012 Favorite'.
Thank you all so much for thinking of me.
I'd also like to take a few moments to wish everyone a very Happy New Year - may all your dreams become reality.

Congratulations Debi!

Happy New Year, Debi!
ReplyDeleteCongrats for the award Debi! Your wiggles square is very sweet:)
ReplyDeleteI can understand the time you are going through. At times, while crocheting you might feel connected with your sister as she taught you but sometimes the same thing might also make you restless. I lost my Dad 1.5 years back when he was just 66 years and I feel so when I do the things he used to do. I feel very bad seeing my mom without him but then I have a very nice brother and his family who takes a great care of her.
Time and maturity helps heal the void. You are elder, so you understand life better.
I wish you a new year that helps you and your family to soon get back to normal and happy life!
Congrats to you! Your crochet work is always inspiring. Wishing you a wonderful year filled with opportunity and possibility. Tammy

ReplyDeleteIt takes time, I lost my brother in april. The start of 2013 is maybe a moment to take a deep breath, then do your daily things and in the course of time secretly the fun sneaks back into your life. I wish you strength and I'm glad you're back in blogland.
Happy New Year Debi. Wishing you health and happiness in the new year. Congratulations on your awards; much deserved. Heather

ReplyDeleteAwesome Debi! You are very deserving. :o)
ReplyDeleteI have only read a couple of your posts so far but I just wanted to say I am sorry for your loss and your totally made me laugh with your rapping senior story. My mom who is 22 years beautifuler than me (she love that) and I had gone to the Goodwill not too long ago and I picked up some books and the girl 25ish said to me "And are we using our senior discount today"? I choked out oh well I am only 46 but if your gonna give me a discount I will surely take it as tight as money is these days. My poor mom about cried she was laughing so hard at the embarrassed look on the girls face! As we were leaving I said to the girl oh well I guess it's time for a trip to Walmart to buy some Lady Clairol, I also decided that I need some night cream! Ha I guess it happens to the best and worst of us, thanks for the smile you put on my ole face and God bless!
