~ Two on Tuesday ~

Two things that made me smile:

* this little tweetie - my great-nephew Asher - he's now 4 months old.  :)

* Vince and I went to a Bull & Shrimp roast on Saturday night with long-time friends.  There was a silent auction and I was the lucky winning bidder on this baby blanket.  I hate to admit that I only paid $16.00 for it - I know the yarn probably costs around that.  It's crocheted with baby yarn and it measures 37" x 48".

  1. Asher is an adorable little guy...and I suspect that ripple in the photo came from someone special. What a beautiful blanket you picked up at the auction.

    1. Thanks Astri. I bought the ripple blanket from the thrift store - brand new, never used - for cheap ($5.90). I love to get deals like that, but it's also kind of disheartening. Someone took the time to crochet this blanket for someone else and that person didn't appreciate it like they should have. Oh well - Asher loves it. :)

  5. are your thrift shops charity shops because where i live in the U.K a couple of shops have blankets cardigans etc made by volunteers using donated wool so don't feel sad that it's not loved some are made with love to raise funds for the charity.

    1. Hi Kerena. Yes, the thrift shops are charity shops - the items are donated - but it still seems a little sad though that a lot of crocheted and knitted items end up there. :)

  15. Beautiful baby and baby blankie! I was at a spring swap meet a couple weekends ago and a lady was there that crochets. She had a red and green king size afghan for sale for $80. That was cheap I thought. No one bought it. We talked a few times. I was working on the baby blankie I posted about and happened to have the pattern printed out and I gave it to her. She said she'd been crocheting for years but never learned the granny stitch!!! I was shocked. I showed her and then gave her the printout.
