~ 'little boy blue' preemie baby cocoon ~

Here's a preemie baby cocoon for the little fella's.
These little cocoon's are a quick and easy project.  It did take me 2 evenings of crocheting to complete this one though since I had to figure things out.  My next one probably won't take as long.
This is the motif I used for the bottom.

Materials:
- 4-ply worsted weight acrylic
   - 1/2 oz. variegated
   - 2 1/2 oz. blue
- J hook

Size:  8" side to side  11" top to bottom

Notes:
- I crochet a little tight, so you may need to adjust the size of your crochet hook
- the ch 2 at the beginning of the dc rnds do not count as a stitch

Directions:
Rnd 1:  With variegated ch 3 (make your 1st ch a little loose), 12 dc in 3rd ch from hook.  Join with a sl st to 1st dc.  (12 dc)

Rnd 2:  Ch 2, 2 dc in same dc as joining.  2 dc in each dc around.  Join as before.  (24 dc)

Rnd 3:  Ch 1, sc in same dc as joining, 3 dc in next dc.  *sc in next dc, 3 dc in next dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.

Rnd 4:  Sl st in next 2 dc, ch 1, 2 sc in same dc, ch 3.  *2 sc in the middle dc of the next 3 dc group, ch 3.  Repeat from * around.  Join as before.  End off.

Rnd 5:  Join blue with a sc to any sc.  Sc in each sc with 3 sc in each ch-3 space around.  Join as before.

Rnd 6:  Ch 2, dc in same sc as joining.  Dc in each sc around.  Join with a sl st to 1st dc.

Rnds 7 - 8:  Ch 2, dc in same dc as joining.  Dc in each dc around.  Join as before.

Rnd 9:  Ch 3, 2 dc in same dc as joining, skip next 2 dc.  *3 dc in next dc, skip next 2 dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a sl st to top of beginning ch 3.

Rnds 10 - 25:  Repeat Rnds 7, 8 & 9 consecutively.  End off.

Rnd 26:  Join variegated with a sc in any dc.  Sc in each dc around.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.  End off.

    1. You're welcome. I don't have the pattern written for the hat here, but if you do a search for baby hat in the search bar at the top of this blog, a few patterns will come up. :)
