What I'm asking is if you would like to join 'the guardian grandmas', all you would have to do is crochet either a preemie sized or regular baby sized item - hat, blankie, cocoon - and then send it to me to be donated to the Prince George's Hospital Center baby ward.
I will have cards made up with the group name along with the laundering directions.
Your name will be listed in the sidebar of my blog if you decide to become a member of 'the guardian grandmas'.
I've set up a page for this project - click on 'the guardian grandmas' that's right under my blog header and it will take you there. All the information for this group will be posted there.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment and I will answer them asap.
Thank everyone. :)

I was actually born in P.G. county (Laurel to be exact) so I would love to help out! I'll be watching for more details. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you April. My last job was in Laurel - and I've lived in Bowie all my life. Small world. :)
DeleteSmall world indeed. :) I grew up in the Odenton/Severn area. I moved away only about 5 years ago. I do miss MD a lot, but Odenton has changed so much that it just didn't feel like the same place anymore. :(
DeleteSounds like a great idea Debi and you can count me in. I have a bunch of baby blankets made up that I have been using as gifts. I can spare a couple to send to you for the cause. Just let us know the details when you get things figured out.
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
Thank you so much Susanne. :)
DeleteI didn't realize you were a Marylander! I'm a Montgomery county resident. What a great idea for a group!
ReplyDeleteThanks Trish. If you decide to join the group, I will add your name to the group list on the sidebar.
DeleteI live in Bowie - been here since I was about a year and a half (that's about 50 years) - goodness, times flies by too fast. :)
Ok count me in! I'll make a couple hats and maybe a blanket.
DeleteThank you Trish. :)
DeleteI think it's a brilliant idea Debi, I wish I lived closer, but please still count me in I will not be able to send as many as I would like because of postage costs but will send some now and then if that's ok :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. You can send 1 or 2 hats - that would be perfectly fine. :)
DeleteI'd enjoying making some things to donate. I'll watch for more details. Heather
ReplyDeleteThank you Heather. :)
DeleteIt's a very nice job that you are doing,Debi ! But, I am sorry I will not be able to contribute.
ReplyDeleteThanks Preeti. :)

DeleteDebi, how wonderful. I would love to participate. Will stay tuned for more details!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Glor. :)
DeleteI can definitely make some hats - count me in!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandy. :)
DeleteOh please count me in...being a native Marylander, and was raised in P.G. County, this is a MUST for me :) Will look for further instructions. What a great idea. P.S. I'm not a grandma yet so does that count me out??? lol
ReplyDeleteThank you JAMS68. Of course you can still join - I will make you an 'honorary' grandma. :)
Deletep.s. where do you live? I live in Bowie. :)
DeleteI'm in Tennessee now, but grew up in Old Greenbelt/College Park. Hubby in Upper Marlboro. I emailed you (Joyce ) ;) lol
DeleteWhat a great idea. I was giggling over the name though because i was thinking to myself "what if you're not old enough to be a grandma, or don't even have any kids of your own to make yourself a grandma, but then tell people you're part of a group called guardian grandmas".
ReplyDeleteThen I realized... I AM old enough to be a grandma. GASP!
I'll need to think about it before committing to another group. But I'll try to let you know soon. :)
Thanks Shell. I thought of that too, but then I thought that if anyone who wants to join is not a grandma, then they can be an 'honorary grandma'. :)
DeleteWhat a fantastic idea! I'm not a grandma but that's great. If I can work it in I will try and send to you too. :) Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah. :)
DeleteI am so loving this idea..I will be sending some preemie hats...hugs!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Vikki - that will be great. :)
DeleteI'd love to crochet for another cause. I send blankets to Project Linus but would love to have a place to send hats. I've never tried cocoons but will give them a shot. Since my daughter's only 11, I'll have to an honorary grandma :-) Blessings to you for always wanting to serve.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. :)
DeleteNot a Grandma yet (hopefully not for another 15 - 20 years!), but would love to participate! The organization I run (Purls from the Heart) receives lots of baby items from crocheters and I would love to send some of what we receive your way! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Deanne - I would appreciate that very much. :)
