~ baby crochet and a couple of crafts ~

Oh my goodness - 2 more packages just full to the brim with baby items for the 'guardian grandmas'.  The 1st one is from Ms. Luna of 'My Crochet, Mis Tejidos'.  She has sent along a whole of bunch of baby hats - all different styles - aren't they just adorable?

The 2nd one is from my friend Yvette.  I know Yvette from a crochet group I used to have on Ebay.  She has sent along 3 baby cocoons and a bunch of hats - all different sizes.  Just perfect and so, so cute.

Thanks so much Ms. Luna and Yvette!  :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I crocheted these 2 hand towels for our campground trailer bathroom.  I bought the towel from the Dollar Tree - cut it in half - sewed the blanket stitch across the top (which I really don't like doing because it's such a pain in the a**) and then crocheted the top.  Every little bit helps to brighten up the place.
And this is another bird/squirrel feeder.  An upside down bowl, a cup and a plate glued together with E6000 glue.  Hopefully, the squirrels won't knock this one over.
Have a great day ladies.  :)
  2. Have you ever tried a "Sharp Crochet Hook"? I ordered one and it really works. No more blanket stitch!
    1. I bought one but it doesn't work for me. It snagged and bunched up the fabric. :)
  3. I have found that the fabric you use determines if the sharp hook works or not. It has to be a tightly knit fabric in order for it to work well..just my experience. Bless those girls for sending you all those hats..We have a Riley's Children's Hospital here in Evansville, and it has been on my heart to take my beanies there. Well I took them and not only were they happy to have them, but said they would take all I ever want to make for children and babies..if they couldn't use them there...the women's hospital is just a few floors and an elevator away. You have been an inspiration..thank you.
  5. You are very welcome Debi :) Glad to help out. Am I now officially a GG:) On a different topic I remember you posting in the past about being worn out after watching your grandkids, I can now totally relate as I am a full time babysitting grandma, Rowyn is 2 1/2 years old, but as this is my first time being able to be a hands on grandma I am enjoying it all!
    Oh, and I also went off your patterns for the cocoons:) Great job on the patterns as usual!
    1. Yes Yvette - you are officially a 'guardian grandma'. I added your name to the list. Congrats on being a babysitting grandma - the grandkids are so much fun to look after, but they do wear you out. Mine are now 14 and 7 so it's not so bad now. Thanks for using my patterns for the baby cocoons - I always get a kick out of it when I see someone has used them. :)
    2. Sweet! Thanks Debi, now I belong somewhere, JK:)
      Do you have a preference/or does the hospital, on what their needs are? You know, like, do they use more hats than blankets? Gender specific, more female than male? Questions like that:) I will try to work on things for you when time allows or if you get in a pinch and need something right away, shoot me an email, ok.
    3. I'm not sure on that Yvette. When I make my delivery sometime in the near future, I'll ask them. :)
  9. The Guardian Grandmas cause is really doing well and everything you received is fabulous. I like that little strawberry hat, how cute is that. All the others are just as sweet and I am sure come this late fall and winter the new moms will be so happy to have pretty warm blankets, buntings and hats to bring their new babies home in.
    Love what you did with the towels. I need to make some of those. they would be nice easy Christmas stocking stuffer, house warming gifts, and "just because" gifts.....love them.
  12. All the baby things are lovely....adorable..too cute! :) Love your towels. I am with you on sewing the blanket stitch. I just do a row of sc across the top, instead of the blanket stitch, for that reason. LOL Cute birdfeeder too!
