~ baby blankies ~

Look what Debbie from 'Fresh Off My Hook' sent me - 4 beautiful little baby blankies for the guardian grandmas project.  Thank you very much Debbie.  :)

--a little side note:  I opened the box and started taking the blankies out.  I said to Vince - "look at these baby blankies - aren't they cute?"  He jokingly said to me "are you pregnant?"  I seriously said to him "are you still alive?"  He said "yes", so I said "then no, I'm not pregnant."  We both laughed.  :)

~ Two on Tuesday ~

* the season 11 premier of NCIS is coming on tonight.  Yay!!  Although, with Ziva leaving the show - I'm afraid this is the beginning of the end.

* my plants.

   -  I had a plant that was around 7 feet tall and not doing well at all.  More than half of the leaves had fallen off, so I re-potted it into a bigger pot.  Still, leaves fell.  I gave up and sawed the plant off so I could put it in the trash and left the rest in the pot on the porch.  I just figured that I would get another plant and replace it.  A few weeks later I took a look at it and this is what I saw - 3 new leafy shoots growing out of the top.  I'm happy about that - I was a little sad because I had thought that I killed it.

   - one of my orchid plants is getting ready to bloom again.

   - I bought a new orchid plant from the store for only $3.99 - it's the one in the green pot.  These orchids are regularly $19.99, so the trick to getting them so cheap is to buy them from the store when they are finished blooming.  I hope I can get this one to bloom again.

An update on the curtain topper project:  no need to continue with the crocheted ones - my Mom gave us curtains that she no longer needed.

~ taped up trash can ~

- 2 large coffee cans from Laura (the bottom cut out of one)
- white duct tape from the Dollar Tree
     and
- decorative green lattice tape from the Dollar Tree

= a taped up trash can for the campground trailer bathroom.

As you can see, I jumped the gun in taking this picture - I forgot to add the vertical tape stripes on the top can.  Jeez - sometimes I worry about myself.  :)

~ baby cocoon and Laura ~

Here's another baby cocoon that I finished up.  Ladybug and Tex insisted on being in the picture, so I couldn't really get a good close-up picture of it.  It's a basic circle at the beginning with the open-shell pattern for the rest.  Looks like this pink one - http://hooksandyarns.blogspot.com/2013/08/preemie-baby-cocoons.html - just different colors.

Not last time, but the time before when I went to the campground, I had planned on being by myself, so I went and bought some mace to take with me.  You never know what's hiding in those woods - I'm not afraid of the small critters, but I am a little afraid of the medium critters, the big critters, and the 2-legged critters.  When I got to the campground, I unpacked all my groceries and stuff and I put the package of mace on top of the TV.  I was eating my late lunch when my sister Laura called and said she was coming to the campground too.  So for the rest of the week it was me and Laura doing projects at the trailer and relaxing.  When Saturday came around, Vince came up and he had noticed the package of mace on the TV and he said to me "you know, mace won't work if you don't take it out of the package" - I looked at him and said "I don't need the mace - I have Laura".  He laughed - I laughed and Laura laughed too.  It was funny.  :)

~ Two on Tuesday ~

* The lovely Heather of 'At Home on the Meadow' sent me this beautiful baby blankie for the 'guardian grandmas'.  Thank you very much Heather - a lucky little baby will be all warm and cozy wrapped up in it.  ♥

--- Every time I take out my camera - my dogs come running to get their picture taken.  Silly dogs.

* Laura and I spent the weekend at the campground and I brought the dining room curtain topper to put up.  I think it looks a lot better.

 --- I didn't take a lot of pictures, but if you click on this link:  http://hooksandyarns.blogspot.com/search/label/campground
you'll see pictures that were taken on previous visits.  :)

~ window topper, baby hat and a turtle ~

Update on my campground trailer project:  The 1st window topper is complete.  This one is for the dining room double window.  I tried not to make it too girly - after all, there are men to keep in mind, and they don't appreciate a lot of girly stuff.  There's only 3 of us girls - me, my sister Laura and my daughter Erica - and there are 7 guys - my husband Vince, my son Bobby, my nephews Travis and Spencer, my grandsons William and James, and Erica's fiance Dave.  I have to be fair to them.

The window topper was crocheted with Caron One Pound in 'sunflower' and it measures 76" across by 9" top to bottom.  I can't wait until my next trip to the campground to see how it looks hanging on the window.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ms. Luna of 'My Crochet, Mis Tejidos' posted a cute pattern for a baby pom-pom hat a couple of days ago.  I thought it was very cute, so I made one.  Mine doesn't have pom-poms though.  I had such trouble with trying to make them last night, that I just gave up.  Maybe next time.  Well anyways - here's the little hat I made yesterday:
I'm gonna make a couple more, but instead of sc I think I'll use half double crochets.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My dogs Tex and Ladybug found a new friend this morning.  I looked out the back door and saw Tex sniffing around like crazy and Ladybug was just standing there staring intently.  I went out and found this turtle just minding her own business walking through the garden we have on our patio.  I wanted to keep her and make a crocheted cozy for her - http://geekcrafts.com/13351-crocheted-turtle-cozies/ - but since I know nothing about the care of turtles, I decided not too.  I'm going to be doing some research on that now and the next time a turtle wanders into our yard, she'll be mine.  Bwahahaha!  :)

        (wouldn't she look cute with a crocheted flower on her back?)

~ Two on Tuesday ~

* I received 6 cute little hats from Linda of 'Linda's Crafty Corner' for the 'guardian grandmas' project yesterday.  Thank you so much Linda.  :)

* I went to James' school yesterday for Grandparent's Day - it was a lot of fun.  His paternal grandparent's Cathy and Craig were there too, so James was very happy.  :)

-- this car was 'parked' in front of my car.  Maybe that grandparent shouldn't be driving - I don't know, just saying.

~ 2 more baby cocoons ~

Finished up 2 more baby cocoons for the hospital.  The left cocoon was crocheted with the yarn that I won from Astri of 'Apple Blossom Dreams' (thanks again Astri) when she had her guessing game about her scooter, and a strand of really, really thin acrylic that I had bought from Ebay a long time ago.  It measures 10" across by 14" top to bottom.  The cocoon on the right was crocheted with Red Heart Super Saver in 'soft white' and an unknown variegated that I found in my stash.  It measures 9" across by 12" top to bottom.

I've started a baby blankie with variegated greens that I bought from AC Moore.  I don't know the brand of the yarn because it came in one of the mill-ends bags, but I have a suspicion that it's Caron One Pounder.  The pattern I'm using for the blankie is from here:  http://hooksandyarns.blogspot.com/2011/08/straight-up-granny.html

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm going to be taking a little break from making baby things because I've also started working on a project for the trailer at the campground.  I'm going to be crocheting curtain toppers for all the windows.  There are 3 single windows and 3 double windows.  Right now they look like this - just plain and yucky:
The curtain toppers won't be anything too fancy - just something to dress them up a little and add some color.  :)
~ for Cristina ♥ ~
I received this note from our blog friend Cristina of 'my world of wool' yesterday.  Please let's send her good thoughts and prayers for her country.
~~ On 11 September is a sad day for you and your country, I know... I remember what I was doing that day .... everything is so sad .... but we do not forget, right? ... If you excuse me, I ask that this year you thinking with my country, Catalonia. I'll be grateful if you want to spread my message. Maybe their countries news channels do not speak but there is a great social movement in Catalonia that the September 11 wants to make a human chain of 400 kilometers to claim what belongs to us: freedom, independence. We wish well as you one day we can celebrate our Independence Day's FREEDOM Catalonia. Catalonia, the new state in Europe.
Thank you Debi... thank you to you all... ~~
* today is my daughter Erica's 31st birthday.  Jeez, talk about time flying by - I remember the day she was born just like it was yesterday.  Happy Birthday Erica!!
- I put her in there because she wasn't listening to me.  Ha-ha, just kidding - she was working on the Haunted House that our families put together at the campground.
