~ a hat, slippers and my fridge ~

A pretty little baby hat - crocheted while the cable man was here last Tuesday.  He had turned off the tv and the internet so he could re-wire the cable outside and I was a little bored to say the least.  I had started the laundry, cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom, but I needed something fun to do - so I made a hat.  The yarn I used is Premier Yarns Deborah Norville collection Serenity Baby.

My niece Jessi saw this picture on Pinterest and asked me if I could crochet her a pink pair.

This is the best that I could do - I hope they look better on her feet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I also saw an idea on Pinterest about lining the shelves in your fridge.  The lady used placemats in hers - I had to use shelf liner in mine.  It really doesn't serve any purpose, it just dresses it up a little.  :)
Thank you all for dropping by, and thanks so much for all the happy Birthday wishes - it really made my day happy.  :)
~ a straight simply pretty ~
I chained 76 for the baby blankie that I started - it is only 20" wide.  If you want a wider blankie, just add more chains in multiples of 4.
Directions:
Row 1: Ch 76, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each ch across.  Ch 1, turn.  (75 sc)
Row 2: Sc in the 1st ch, ch 3, skip next sc, sc in the next sc.  *ch 3, skip next sc, sc in the next sc.  Repeat from * across.  Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sl st into the ch-3 loop, (ch 3, 2 dc) in the same ch-3 loop.  *ch 1, skip next ch-3 loop, 3 dc in the next ch-3 loop.  Repeat from * across.  Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Sc in the 1st dc, sc in each dc and ch-1 space across, sc in top of last ch 3.  Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 - 4 consecutively until you get to the length you prefer.
~ my NCIS rant ~
Everyone knows that NCIS is my favorite tv show - it's my simple pleasure on Tuesday night.  Well, not anymore!  Last nights episode just plain outright sucked!  The storyline sucked, the new SecNav sucks, and I did not like the new girl at all.  She sits on tables, desks and floors (maybe she doesn't know what a chair is for), asks for food, and lo and behold she can take down a grown man who has a gun just because she grew up with 3 brothers.  I call bulls**t on that one.  I grew up with a brother and a sister that used to beat me up all the time (you know how kids are), and I've had military training.  I'm about the same size as that new girl, and I honestly don't think that I could do what she did.  And besides, one good punch from a man and you're going down.
The whole analyst thing doesn't work for me either.  Papers spread out everywhere so she can figure out what the bad guy is going to do next.  I don't believe it.  No one knows what the bad guy is going to do next except for the bad guy.
And as a side note - someone in hair and makeup needs to fix her eyebrows.  I kept getting distracted by them.  Someone with long blonde hair should not have black eyebrows.  Just doesn't look right.
The new SecNav lady?  Nope.  Just nope.  Who gets a big-a** pen in the mail and then carries it around in your pocket?  Anywaaaays.  I thought you had to have military service under your belt to be the Secretary of the Navy.  I could be wrong though - I don't know.  The character should be a stern, older man - in my opinion, that's more believable.  I think the reason they brought her in is just for Gibbs.  She does have red hair.
And speaking of Gibbs - he was totally out of character and unbelievable.  It was like he phoned it in.  Not once did he say "Hey!!"  And what is with his stupid "never apologize - it's a sign of weakness"?  I know that's been around for a while, but really?
For each episode of NCIS I would sit for the whole hour so I wouldn't miss a second of the show.  Last night I got up twice and wandered around.  Not a good sign.
Getting real tired of your s**t NCIS writers.
I predict that this is the beginning of the end.
Schewww - now I feel better.  I feel bad for my hubby though - I'm going to have to tell him all about it when he gets home.  :)
~ bored ~
When I had to rewrite the 'simply pretty' pattern, I decided to crochet up a little blanket using 'Peruvian Print' from Red Heart Super Saver since I have 2 skeins of it.
I got to the end of 1 skein and got bored, so I thought to crochet a straight across version of the same pattern.
Got bored with that.
Then I thought to crochet finger puppets for my great-nephew Asher.  Got bored with that.
Don't know what to do now.
~ a round ripple baby blankie ~
Finished up this round ripple baby blankie a few nights ago.  It's the first item in a new pile of baby stuff for PG Hospital.  The yarn I used was a no-name that came in one of those Fashion Plus mill-ends bags that I get from AC Moore.  I suspect that it's ILTY! from Hobby Lobby though - same look and feel.
The pattern link for the round ripple is over on the right sidebar.  :)
* ILTY! = I Love This Yarn!
~ today was the day.........~
......for my delivery to Prince Georges Hospital Center.  No - not a baby (that would of been a miracle) - I delivered all the baby items from the 'guardian grandmas'.  Here's a picture of the back of my car before I left:
I called Wanda - she's the Volunteer Services Coordinator - before I left to let her know I was coming.  I had talked to Wanda previously, so she knew what I was doing.
Wanda met me out front with a wheelie cart to collect the bags, and then I parked my car up on the 6th floor of the parking garage.  If you take the time to look around, it's a nice view.  I met up again with Wanda and she took me to the Pediatric ward to have a small tour.  Everyone was so nice and welcoming - I felt right at home.
Here are the ladies in the Pediatric ward checking everything out - except for Wanda - she's the one that took the pictures.  There were a lot of "awww's", "that's so cute" and "that's adorable".  I loved it.
I explained who the 'guardian grandmas' were, and I gave Wanda a list of everyone's first name and the state where ya'll live.  She told me to let ya'll know that if anyone is ever in the area - she'll be happy to give you a tour.
Thank you to Wanda and the ladies in the Pediatric ward - and a big thank you to all of my 'guardian grandmas' - without you, this would not be possible.  ♥
~ more info on the candy drops pattern ~
I received an email from Jacquelyn asking for more information in reference to the little fill-in squares for the candy drops pattern.  I worked up a sample and took a few pictures.  I hope it helps Jacquelyn - and sorry it took me so long to get this done.
~ guardian grandma donations ~
I've received 2 more donations for the 'guardian grandmas' group.  The 1st one is from Linda of 'Linda's Crafty Corner' - a very cute set of tiny little baby hats.  I love them Linda.
The 2nd donation is from Liz.  Liz has very generously donated 4 baby blankets to our group.  They are beautiful Liz.
Thank you so much ladies - I really appreciate your time and support.  :)
