~ Two on Tuesday ~

* Daughter Erica and I went to Joann Fabrics Friday evening.  I got 2 skeins of yarn that is brand new to me - I've never heard of it or seen it before.  It's called Lion Brand Keppi.

Each skein is 2.3 oz., and is 80% acrylic, 20% polyester.  They were on sale for $3.99 each.  The big puffy thing on top of the skein is a giant pom-pom.  The wrapper says that 'one ball makes a hat from baby to adult size small'.  Not really.  I started a hat for my great-niece Lena and only got this far:

I went through my yarns and had to add more.  This is the finished hat:

(the back)

(the front)

In the top picture of the back, you can see where I had to go back and sew in some dark pink variegated eyelash yarn just so it could match a little.

I'll make a baby hat with the turquoise skein.

*  I got cat-called.  I know that shouldn't make me smile, but it did.  I'm a 52 year old grandma and that hasn't happened in a looooong time.  :)

~ any info on this? ~

I found this little pitcher at the thrift store a while back.  It's 5" tall, the bottom is 4 3/4" across, and the top is 4" across.  The only information on the bottom is 'USA'.  I'm thinking the star motif looks like something from the 1950's.  Has anyone ever seen this before?

eta: thank you to Laura and Helen for informing me that this is a piece of Salem North Star dinnerware.  :)

~ Christmas ~

Christmas eve was spent with daughter Erica and the boys.  Here's Erica sneaking into the ninja-bread cookies she made.

Watching 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!' cartoon.

(from left to right - son Bobby, grandson William, grandson James, Erica's fiance Dave, daughter Erica and husband Vince)

This is James letting Grandpa wear his Angry Birds hat.

Poor Grandpa - he had been up since 2:30 a.m. because he had to work that day.  He also had to work Christmas day.  I know!  Working on Christmas Day just ain't right.  Stinkin' Metro.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We went to Mom's house for Christmas dinner and we had a great time.  Sister Laura got an adult onesie for Christmas and she wore it all day - she said it was very comfortable.  Sometimes I wonder about her.
(picture I snatched off of Laura's facebook)
Sister Julie gave Asher (Laura's grandson) a pair of Batman pajamas.  He's so adorable.  Little dude needs a haircut soon or people are going to think he's a little girl.  :)
(another picture I snatched off of Laura's facebook)
As my Mom would say - "it's all over now except for the fighting".  Ha-ha, my Mom is a wise woman.  Now we can all take a deep breath and 'Keep Calm and Relax'.  :)
~ Two on Tuesday ~
* I saw a really cool shelf on Pinterest.  I printed out a picture, gave it to my husband Vince, and this is what he made for me:
you can find it here:  http://craftingitmyself.blogspot.com/2013/06/love-shelf.html
* Liz from 'Howling at the Moon' posted some snowflakes that she made with hama beads and I thought that they were pretty cool (pun intended) , so I headed out to AC Moore on Sunday and bought a bucket of Perler beads and made a few.  I also made a small Christmas tree.
I had a nice surprise when I was checking out.  The cashier girl gave me a coupon for 55% off, so the $9.99 bucket of Perler beads only cost me $4.50.  I was happy.  :)
~ Christmas tree decoration ~
Not too long ago, Alessandra of 'Homemade@myplace' created a 'Christmas tree decoration' and shared her tutorial with us all.
I thought it was the cutest Christmas tree, and evidently so did a lot of other crochet bloggers because I've seen quite a few of them around the blog world.
Ale's 'Christmas tree decoration' is very easy to crochet and took no time at all.  Thank you very much for sharing with us Ale.
Here is my version of Ale's Christmas tree:
I think I'll hang it in the living room next to our big Christmas tree.  :)
~ Two on Tuesday ~
*  Spending time with family:
 =  dress shopping and lunch with daughter Erica on Saturday.
 = helping sister Laura with a little bit of their Christmas lights on Sunday and then staying for dinner.
*  Singing to my dogs Tex and Ladybug.  Do ya'll know the Cops tv show with the "Bad Boys" theme song?  Well I changed the words to:
"Bad dogs
bad dogs
whatcha gonna do?
whatcha gonna do when I come for you?"  (clever, huh?)
they sit there and look at me like they're thinking "we love you Mom, but we think you're going crazy."  I love my bad dogs.  :)
~ it's been one year today ~
It's been one year today that my sister Teri passed away.  We all miss her.  ♥
Teri always wore her long hair swept up on the top of her head.  In the top picture you can see the headband that I made for her granddaughter Kelsey.  I made it all floofy so she could match her grandmamma.  :)
Until next time.....
~ Christmas tree done ~
** ok - I don't know how the pictures are able to sparkle - it must be something Blogger is doing.  It's pretty though.
I have no crochet to show you - I've been busy with Christmas decorating and shopping, and haven't been able to crochet much.  I still have 3 baby blankies in the works, but don't feel like working on them.  I suppose they'll get done sooner or later.
Until next time.....   :)
~ a little Christmas wreath ~
I crocheted this little 6" Christmas wreath last night.  Quick and easy for sure.
I used this pattern:  ~ Christmas wreath ~  except for Rnd 1, you have to make sure you end up with an even number of sc around the ring and for Rnd 2, I skipped every other sc.  The smaller ring I used is a 2 1/2" plastic child's bracelet that I bought at the Dollar Tree.
Here's a picture of both wreaths.
I wish you all a cozy, comfy day.  :)
~ Two on Tuesday ~
* looking through my Picasa pictures and found this one of my sister Teri that I didn't know I had.  This was taken at our campsite a few years back.  It's hard to believe that it's been almost a year since she's been gone.
* my sister Laura and I are leaving today to go to the campground.  We have a few things to do, so we'll only be there a couple of days.
Have a great day ladies - see you when I get back.  :)
