~ a mermaid baby cocoon ~

My niece Jessi called and asked me if I could crochet a mermaid cocoon for her friend who is having a baby.  Of course I told her I would - here is my version of a mermaid baby cocoon.

No one I know has a baby, and the only baby doll I own is a small one.  By looking at this cocoon, it looks like it would fit a 6 month and older baby.

Materials:
- 5 oz. 4-ply worsted weight acrylic
- J hook

Size:  11" across x 16" long (not including tail fin) - looks like it will fit a 6 month and older baby

Notes:
- the ch 2 at the beginning of Rnds 1 to 36 do not count as a stitch
- I crochet tight, so you may need to adjust the size of your crochet hook
