i just started this.. it seems a little small to me... how would i make it wider??
ReplyDeleteHow far have you got? When you crochet the V-st rounds, they will go out a little more. Or - you can add an extra round of increases if you'd like.
ReplyDeletehi debi.. well i wound up ripping it out because apparently i skipped a row.. but then i wanted to make it bigger anyway so i did 20 DC and then i wound up with the 40 DC in the next row.. but that didn't seem to work either to make it bigger.. its just a floppy circle and not really forming correctly.. so i am going to go back and do the original again and use a bigger hook... have you put a baby in one of these before? was it small? my friend at work just did this pattern and hers is gorgeous.. its lavendar with white around the top and she put flowers on it.. beautiful! this is my first time doing one of these and i just crochet basic blankets nothing real fancy so this is stepping out a little for me.. but it seems real simple.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to rip your work out but I'm glad you're going to try again. I haven't actually put a baby in this - I just estimated the size.
ReplyDeleteTo make the cocoon bigger, follow my pattern for the first 4 rounds then for the next round do (2 dc, dc in next 3 dc) all the way around. Then follow the rest of my pattern starting with Rnd 5.
I hope it works out for you.
hmmmm.. i will have to try that.. however i did try it again addiing the row i missed.. and i did use two strands of yarn this time and it seems to be MUCH wider now... my co-worker only did one strand of yarn however and her's came out a decent size though. mine looks so much better now.. i will have to let her know your suggestion though. thank you so much! now i will have to show you a picture of my finished product when its done! :-) take care!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see it. :)
ReplyDeletedebi... here are the pics.. i think you just need to copy and paste the links!! let me know what you think :-) I already started another one! Its going to be green with a yellow fold down top!!

Hi Bella's Mommy - I can't get the links to work - do you have a blog or a site I can go to to look at the photos?
ReplyDeleteHi Debi.. I just posted them on my blog which i never even use.. if you click on my name i am guessing it will take you there? not sure if you have to become a follower.. let me know how you make it! By the way.. my name is Jamie :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie - I clicked on the photo of the little cutie but it didn't take me to your blog. Can you post the name for me please?
ReplyDeleteoh boy this is difficult. the name of my blog is A busy little girl named Isabella Grace.. I hope that helps!!
ReplyDeleteJamie - your cocoon came out really cute. Great job. :)
ReplyDeletethank you! glad you finally got to see it! already started another one!
ReplyDeleteThank you for these instructions - i'm going to try it!
ReplyDeleteLovely cocoon set Jamie!
You're welcome Jamie - I'm glad you like it. :)
ReplyDeleteI am going to start this right away and let you know, this is going to be the first project for my baby to be. so excited about it!
ReplyDeletefirst time with v-st too...
I'm glad you like it - have fun crocheting. :)
ReplyDeleteDebi help! i must be doing something wrong with the v-stiches because i did the 6th row and it is still very flat, no curving at all :'(
ReplyDeletei must be adding extra stiches but i don't know where :(
Hi Kawtar - at the end of Rnd 5 you should have 26 V-sts. Do not add any chs between. The cocoon should be starting to take shape around the 6th - 7th round. I could probably tell better if I could see a picture of what you have so far. Do you have a blog?
ReplyDeleteHi Debi, thanks for your quick response.
ReplyDeletei don't have a blog but i think i figured out what was going on. i counted the stiches and i have 32 v-st instead of 26 but i think i got why, i added an extra row while increasing.
now i just started row 9 and it is finally getting into shape. i'll keep you tuned :)
Glad you got it figured out. Would love to see your finished cocoon. :)
ReplyDeletehi Debi! i'm done with the cocoon !!! as i don't know if i'm having a boy or a girl, i chose yellow instead of blue. how can i send you a picture of it ?
ReplyDeleteThat's great! You can send it to my email: dlyrs@juno.com
