~ wiggles square for SIBOL ~

**This square will be used for a SIBOL blanket challenge around the beginning of December**
Materials:
- 4-ply worsted weight yarn (I used RHSS for the base piece and Herrschner's Worsted 8 for the wiggles)
- I hook

Size:  6"

Note:  I crochet tight so you may need to adjust the size of your crochet hook.

Directions:
Rnd 1:  Ch 4, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 2.  *3 dc in same ch, ch 2.  Repeat from * 2 more times.  Join with a sl st to top of ch 3. 

Rnd 2:  Sl st in next dc, ch 4, skip next dc, *(dc, ch 1, dc, ch 2, dc, ch 1, dc) in ch-2 space.  Ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc.  Repeat from * 3 more times.  Join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 4.  

Rnd 3:  Ch 3, dc in each dc and ch-1 space around with (dc, ch 2, dc) in each corner ch-2 space.  Join with a sl st to top of ch 3.  

Rnd 4:  Ch 4, skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1.  *(dc, ch 1, dc, ch 2, dc, ch 1, dc) in corner ch-2 space.  {ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc} 5 times.  Ch 1.  Repeat from * 2 more times.  (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 2, dc, ch 1, dc) in next corner ch-2 space.  {ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc} 2 times.  Ch 1, join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 4.

Rnd 5:  Repeat Rnd 3.

Rnd 6:  Ch 1, sc in same st.  Sc in each dc around with (sc, ch 1, sc) in each corner ch-2 space.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.  End off.

For wiggles:
Join any color with a sl st around any dc, ch 3, 3 dc around same dc.  *Turn piece counter-clockwise, 4 dc around next dc.  Turn piece clockwise, 4 dc around next dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a sl st to top of beginning ch 3.  End off.

    Great square Debi. I don't know how you do it, you have such wonderful ideas and you turn things out so quickly. This would be darling made up for a girls room in either a blanket or pillow.

    Thats a very interesting (and pretty) square. Thanks for the pattern and being able to see how to do those squiggles makes it less daunting. Must give it a try soon.

    Gracias Isa - hice los ganchos - buscar en la barra lateral para la imagen del gancho de crochet. Las instrucciones están en inglés, pero tal vez podría traducir al español. Otras damas venden ganchos de crochet de arcilla de polímero de Etsy. :)

    Strange thing happened when I tried to print the pattern for wiggles square,it came out with no words only numbers . Never had that happen before.wow can't follow that pattern. HELP!

      Hi Sandy. I'm sorry you're having problems printing out the pattern - I don't understand what could be happening. I just tried it and it worked for me. The only thing I can suggest is to copy the pattern and paste it to a word document and then print it from there.

    I'm so glad I found your blog! I absolutely love this block and may try an afghan!! Purple & pink are my granddaughters' favorite colors.. actually, one likes pink and the other one likes purple.. this should work just great.. THANKS!!!

    Love this wiggle stitch! Beyond me how you thought of it! I'm have trouble with the second round of 'wiggles' though. Should I skip every other double chrochet? I have too many if I do every one.

    Thank you for sharing this pattern. My widowed BIL has dementia (still early stages) I'm using this pattern in a blanket for him. As people with dementia progress they get anxious and having various textures to feel helps them settle. So this will be perfect.
