  10. Hi debi what wonderful colours on the blanket. I have a question before I buy some red heart online somewhere how easy is it to work with and is it soft.

    1. Thanks Rob. Red Heart Super Saver is easy to work with. It is a worsted weight, 4-ply acrylic that is washable and dryable and it has a great range of colors. Some of the colors will be soft and some of the colors will not be soft. When I'm done crocheting something and it is stiff and scratchy - I just run it through the dryer with a damp towel and it will come out soft as butter. It's also a very economical yarn - it's around $2.99 for a 7 ounce solid color skein or a 5 ounce variegated skein. :)

  18. Debi, I wanted to thank you Soooo much for this easy to follow pattern. I have been crocheting when we go on short car trips and I am almost done. I am making the pattern for my mother who is in a nursing home and is confined to a wheelchair. Small round crochet blankets are the BEST for people in wheel chairs because they don't get caught in the wheels and there are no corners to drag on the floor either. Thank you again. I will be making more of these!!!

  24. I am a novice and just learned to crochet. Sorry to sound stupid but are the dc's done into the top of a dc instead of the spaces that I have used in granny afghan?
    Beautiful blanket :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Maz. You don't sound stupid - that's a good question. The 3 dcs are worked into the middle dc of the 3 dc group on the previous round. I hope that sounds right to you. If you click on the picture of the blankie, it will get a little larger and then you can see what I mean. :)

  27. Found your site through All Free Crochet. Love your patterns and your blog. Now for my question~what rounds would you repeat if you wanted to make the blanket bigger? Don't have babies around so a bigger blanket would be better.

    1. Hi Scorpie. It wouldn't work to keep making this blankie bigger. The way it is now, it ruffles at the end. :)

      Delete
    2. Thanks so much for your reply. I kinda figured that would be the case(edge ruffles).

  33. My blanket is curling up. I am at rows 9 n 10 but it started about row 4. Is this supposed to happen n will it flatten out as it gets bigger or is something wrong? Thanks for the pattern easy to follow. Shelley

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Shelley. The blanket is not supposed to ruffle until you get around the end. Can I see a picture of the one you're working on? Maybe I can see what's happening with it. :)

  34. It's not ruffling its caping a bit like when u make a hat. It's as if there isn't enough stitches. The problem started when I did the three double three times, on row 6. I felt like there should b a chain in between. But thought no just follow the pattern.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There is a chain in between. Work your first 3 dc cluster (which is a ch3 and 2 dc), ch 1, then work a dc in the ch-2 space, ch 1, then work your next 3 dc cluster in the middle dc of the next cluster.

(Rnd 6: Sl st into next dc, (ch 3, 2 dc) in same dc, ch 1, dc in ch-2 space, ch 1. *3 dc in middle dc of next 3 dc cluster, ch 1, dc in ch-2 space, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join as before.)

  35. Yes, Deb, thanks for this... But the question of how to make it larger was never answered. Inquiring minds want to know. .. Please? I will NOT be using WW.....

    1. Hi Cynthia. I don't have the blanket anymore so I can't look at it, only the picture. I'm not sure, but maybe you can repeat Rnds 17 through 28 - the blanket will definitely ruffle a whole lot more for sure.

  36. Debi, I just love your blogs and your patterns. I used the Ferris Wheel pattern to make a couple of afghans. They turned out really beautifully. I love to crochet. Even though I was born with only one hand, I taught myself to crochet and knit as a teen. I only crochet now, because after my two spinal fusion surgeries I cannot find a comfortable position in which I can knit. But I have now discovered the versatility of crochet is fantastic. Your patterns are great. I am trying to figure out how to send you pictures of my 2 Ferris wheel projects.

  38. I'm having a little problem when I'm to crochet 3 dc in the middle of a previous row of 3 dc, I can't determine where to put my hook. If I go in the top to the left or right of the middle dc, it makes the 3 stitches off center with the previous row. Can you help explain this stitch, as to where I'm to place the hook to make the 3 dc?

    1. Hi Susan. The 3 dcs are worked into the middle dc of the 3 dc group on the previous round. I hope that sounds right to you. If you click on the picture of the blankie, it will get a little larger and then you can see what I mean. :)

    2. After I yo where/which thread do I go under to complete the dc

    3. You will dc into the middle dc of the 3dc group. I don't know how else to explain it. Please enlarge the picture so you can see the pattern. :)

  39. I'm making this blanket and I've started over twice. Each time the blanket does not lay flat. I've looked at the pattern repeatedly but I think I'm following it exactly. Has anyone else had this problem? I've been crocheting 30+ years so I can read a pattern and generally follow it. This is bothering me because I really like this blanket. Marcia Rouse, NC

  41. I just made this baby afghan for my great grand baby, gave it at the shower yesterday and every one loved it. So I am starting another tonight for another great grand baby. This one will be done in orange and white for UT colors since we all are university Tn fans. Thank you,for this great pattern. Someone at the shower said it looks like a doily.

  42. This is an absolutely GREAT pattern! I have make this in pink, gray & white, white with different colors like the pattern, purple with different colors, just finished a cream & red (which is really awesome)and am working on 2 right now in pink, purple, green, blue & yellow. If I trim it in white,I might add an extra row so the SC row blends better. But this is my GO-TO pattern. I'd like to see you design another one that's as simple & takes such little yarn.

  46. YOU are the creator of this pattern?? I found this blog from a post on FB about something else. Have just been perusing the site when lo & behold I see this! You don't know how many times I have used this pattern in various color configurations! It has been my 'go to' for sometime now. I want to thank you so very much! It is easy, not a yarn eater, & the results are marvelous! Now should you ever get the notion to make another wonderful, round blanket........
