Finished up this bag yesterday - I crocheted it with a 2-ply bulky yarn that I had bought at Michaels. It was in a mill-ends bag, so I don't know what brand it was.
It's very quick and easy to do - all you need is:
* 6 oz. 2-ply bulky acrylic yarn
* a pair of 7" plastic rings (I bought mine from Ebay)
* two 22" pieces of ribbon
* an 'L' hook
Sc around 1 ring 41 times. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat for 32 rows. At the end of the 32nd row, end off.
Repeat for other ring.
Put wrong sides together and starting at the 8th row on the right side and matching up stitches, whipstitch together all the way around till you get to the 8th row on the left side. End off.
Weave 1 ribbon through the stitches of the 9th row on the front.
Weave 1 ribbon through the stitches of the 9th row on the back.
Tie the ends into a bow.
And there you go - a new purse to carry on your trips to the craft store. :)

I've shown ya'll my crochet handle hook collection before (the ones I've made) - but every good crocheter worth her weight in yarn always has a good collection of all kinds of hooks. Here's mine:
Pretty cool, huh?
