Black purse

I crocheted this black purse with 1 strand of Bernat Berella 4 and 1 strand of a boucle yarn (can't remember which one). I used my favorite L hook. The plastic canvas bottom liner still has to be covered with fabric and glued in - I'll probably do that today.

A gift from a friend

I have a great friend in my crochet group - her name is Marilyn - and she made this new siggy for me. I absolutely love it! She's also made these other graphics for me too - she's so talented. :)

Wreath & candy cane

I crocheted these little ornaments last night. The pattern for the candy cane is listed a few posts down and the little wreath pattern is my own. It's very simple.

Wreath ornament:

10 yds. size 10 thread

size 1 steel crochet hook - (I crochet tight - you may need to adjust the hook size to your preference)

1" plastic ring

Rnd 1: sc around ring to cover completely. Join with a sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2: ch 3, dc in same sc. 2 dc in each sc around. Join with a sl st to top of ch 3.

Rnd 3: ch 1, sc in same st. *Ch 2, skip next dc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Ch 2, join with sl st to first sc. (You may or may not end up with an extra sc - it doesn't matter - you won't be able to tell - just skip it and join)

Attach a hanging thread and decorate as you like.

Candy canes

I went to the Dollar Tree yesterday and bought a pack of beaded candy canes and crocheted these cuties last night. Very quick and easy but a little tricky to hold onto at first. I'm giving the red one to Phyllis and the variegated green one to Juli. I got the pattern here:

New scarf

Finished this scarf for myself last night. I used Bernat Super Stripe - the color is called B & Sea (makes no sense to me either) - and I used a J hook. The pattern I got from a friend. It's similar to the "One Skein Scarf" pattern in the "Stitch 'n Bitch" book but it's bigger, so it takes a little more than one skein.

Work Christmas Tree

I bought this little Christmas tree from the Dollar Tree and took it to work. I have no tiny ornaments for it so it sat for a couple days plain. Then I remembered all the little silver-ish washers that I would see on the shop floor and started picking them up (I was told the washers have something to do with the oil changes). I colored the washers with Sharpee markers and placed them on the branches of the tree. Looks kind of cute and fits in perfectly in a car shop.

Low calorie dessert

A friend of mine makes little cupcake ornaments so I decided to try. Her's is much cuter than mine - maybe more sprinkles and a cherry on top would be good. I got the pattern here:

Christmas candy jars

These jars will be filled with candy to give to our neighbors. I crocheted the toppers with various worsted weight yarns using a "J" hook.

Hexagon blanket

I finished this small blanket last night. It is 31" from point to point. It is crocheted with Red Heart Jeweltones and my favorite "I" hook. I'm thinking of giving it to one of my great-nieces for her baby dolls.

Numbers

About 4 or 5 months ago while driving to work, I stopped at a red light behind a big truck. I looked at his tag and the first 3 numbers were 982 - I thought of Erica's birthday which is September (the 9th month) and the year she was born - '82. Then I thought to myself that I would have to look for a tag with Bobby's birthday which is February (the 2nd month) and the year he was born - '89.

And then it hit me - I don't know why it took 19 years to figure this out but the month and year of Bobby's birth are the same numbers of Erica's - only backwards.

Erica's - 9 82
Bobby's - 2 89

Pretty cool, huh?

The other reason I have a job

OK - I've said before that the reason I have a part-time job is to pay for my car - this is my other reason........ain't it beautiful? :)
I also have to say that I LOVE MY HUSBAND - he never says a negative word when I come home with more yarn - he'll usually say "Ooooo - your favorite" or in his best pirate voice say "Yyyaaaarn". He's so cute. :)

Ruffle granny square

I was browsing around looking at crochet patterns and came upon a child's afghan that was made of several sc squares with a ruffle around each square. I thought to myself "self - you can make that without buying the pattern (I'm too cheap)" - so this is what I came up with. I used a basic granny square for this one - I figure I can make at least 6 to create a tote bag - the back can be plain squares. The yarn I used is Vanna's Choice - color is Rose Mint - and I used my favorite "I" hook.

Redskins scarves

Erica asked me to make some Redskins scarves for James and his friend Dougie. These are what I came up with. I'm not really happy with the thinner scarf - I might add some more to it. We'll see what Erica says.

Ladybug's new coat

William spent the night with me last Friday and on Saturday we went out to run some errands and try to find me some pants for work. We went to about 9 different stores. At Target we found this little coat for Ladybug - she's always cold - and I think she's soooo cute. :) It was only $2.50. Vince and Bobby give me a hard time about dressing Ladybug but what do they know? They're just boys.....

Purse and towel toppers

These are some of the things I've been working on for the last week or two. The purse and cell holder I crocheted with Bernat Blacklites using my trusty "L" hook. I think I need to come up with a different pattern for my purses.
The towel toppers were crocheted with Red Heart Sparkling and Jeweltones (both discontinued) and I used my favorite "I" hook. I think I must of been half asleep when I worked on the peach towel (the one on the right) - it's shorter and the button is on the wrong side.

Special Olympic scarves

I've crocheted a couple of scarves to send to the Special Olympics. Here's the link for more info:

I had a heck of a time finding the delft blue yarn. Looked in the craft stores around here, Michael's in Watertown, NY, and in a Walmart in Canada. No one had it. Finally found 1 skein at a Walmart in St. Clair, PA.

Chenille round ripple afghan

I finished this round ripple afghan last night. It's crocheted with Lion Brand Thick & Quick chenille and I used an L hook. All the chenille was either bought at Joann's on clearance for .97 cents each skein or was given to me by my "yarn fairy". Very, very warm. I think I'll give it to my nephew's fiance Karen for Christmas.

Earrings

Here are some earrings I crafted a while ago - I had to replace the earwires with sterling silver ones. I can't wear the cheap stuff anymore - irritates my ears.

Jerome's hat

One of the Hyundai Service Advisors at work - Jerome - has helped me out by creating a new Call Log for me on his computer. I decided to crochet him a hat to thank him. I crocheted it with TLC Essentials in navy blue - I used an "I" hook. I hope he likes it.

New purse and cell holder

I bought the cutest purse today for only $5.00. I crocheted a cell phone holder to go with it. It doesn't look like it in the picture but it matches perfectly. I crocheted it with RHSS and I think the color is called "girly girl".

Sunflower

I have a birdfeeder out by the patio and as always weeds and stuff grow underneath. I noticed this sunflower a couple of weeks ago - it has 5 blooms on it. Now the birdies can eat those.

Another "Inga's bag"

Here's the other "Inga's crocheted bag" that I finished last night. This one is more my size for an everyday purse. It measures 10" x 11" x 5". Now I just have to get a pair of clear "U" shaped handles at Joann's.

"Inga's crocheted purse"

I finished this "Inga's crocheted purse" this afternoon - minus the crocheted handles. I wanted to add a pair of pink U-shaped acrylic handles but they are not wide enough. I'm going to ask Vince if he can make a pair of wider ones out of wood. The bag is also a little too large for my needs - it's 13 1/2" across, 14" from top to bottom and about 8" wide.

I've started another with some pretty blue, green and white variegated yarn that I bought off of Ebay. I'm going to make 3 round squares instead of 4 round squares. Hopefully the size will turn out better for me.

My crochet corner and all my projects

When we get to the campground I always set up my crochet corner first thing. I love it. Makes me happy.

While on our vacation I made:

8 baby hats (for Caps to the Capital)
4 dishcloths
3 granny squares (for my JC friends afghan)
2 kitchen towels
1 small purse
11 squares for an "Inga's crocheted bag" (5 more to go) and
7 squares for a "Babette" afghan (a ton more to go)

I was busy, busy. :)

Scrap afghan

For the 2 hour trip to the campground I brought along all my scrap yarn and rolled them into balls. 2 are all light colors and 1 is all dark colors. I just tie the ends together and start rolling. I am making a scrap granny afghan.

Nekki at work

Nekki went to work with me - here are a few pictures. He got to meet a new friend and he got in trouble with my boss - seems he told a couple customers that we would fix their cars for free. :)

Nekki the traveling frog

I belong to a crochet group and one of the members, Fran, crocheted a little frog. He quickly became the little darling of the group because of all the pictures Fran posted of him. I think it was Marilyn that had the idea to let Nekki visit the members personally, so he has been traveling around spreading joy. He arrived at my house yesterday evening - just so cute. Nekki (which is short for Nekkid frog) will be going to work with me today - I hope he behaves himself. :)

Yarn haul

Woo hoo!! Look at the yarn haul I got today. The 4 skeins of Patons Twister (at the bottom of the picture) I got from the Dollar store. I already have 6 but since I decided I'm going to use this yarn in an afghan for me I thought I should go get more. The rest of the yarn in the picture is from Joann Fabrics. All are on clearance for either $.97c each or $1.97 each. The only exception is the pink Royale thread - that one was regular price at $2.49. I'm very happy right now. :)
