~ painted crochet hook ~

Good morning ladies.  I haven't been doing much crocheting the last week.  The only thing I have to show today is a painted crochet hook.

It is a size U 25mm wood crochet hook that I bought at AC Moore for $8.99.  I dipped it in aqua acrylic paint, hung it up on a cup hook to dry, then dipped it in blue acrylic paint and hung it up to dry again.  I then added the dots with a chopstick.  I haven't used it yet, but I'll be ready if I ever get the idea to crochet a rug or a really thick blanket.

Have a great week everyone.  :)

~ cross stitch and baby doll crochet ~

Good morning.  Today I have something a little different to show you.

I've started a cross stitch project that will most likely take a little while to finish - the tiny stitches are playing with my eyes too much.  Lots of breaks will have to be taken with this project.

I'm working it with 14-count white plastic canvas and embroidery thread.

I found the graph somewhere on the internet - I can't remember exactly where now.  I know that I did a search on Pinterest for cross stitch patterns and this was in the mix.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next up is some baby doll items that I crocheted for Sami.  The first one is a round ripple blanket crocheted with one cake of Caron Baby Cakes in the colorway 'cotton candy'.  Sami likes this blanket - she said to me "thank you for making my baby a star blanket Yaya".  She's so sweet.
The next one is a cocoon - Sami didn't like this one so much.  That's ok - can't win them all.
Well that's it for this week - I'll see you next Sunday.  :)
~ Another gloomy, rainy day ~
Hello, hello, hello.
It's another gloomy, rainy day and to tell you the truth, I'm getting sick of it.  I don't mind rain when we need it, but jeez - enough is enough.
We've had so much rain lately that yesterday when I stepped out onto the porch to feed the birds I smelled mold.  Everything has been wet for so long.  Yuk.
Well, anyways - here are 2 projects that have relatively brightened my days.
The first one is another kitty cat bed.  This one will be my last one for a little while though.  I have developed a pain in my left thumb that goes down to my wrist that I can only reason has something to do with heavy duty crocheting.
 My next project is a baby carseat blanket.  I crocheted it with 1 strand Lion Brand Mandala in the colorway 'genie' and 1 strand Studio Classic by Nicole in 'gentle white'.
I used my 'simply pretty' pattern which can be found here:
That's my little puppy Baron.  He will be 1 year old on August 5th.
Well, that's it for today - I'll see you next Sunday.  :)
~ one more kitty cat bed ~
Good morning everyone.
I have just one kitty cat bed completed to show you this week.
It's been a slow week crochet wise.
I am working on a car seat blanket, but I'll have to show that to you next week.
I'm still taking care of Sami during the week, so you can imagine that she keeps me pretty busy.
Here she is offering 'cupcakes' to Grandpa and Uncle Bobby while they take a break from working in the yard:
and here she is helping Grandpa work on his motorcycle:
As you can see, she's a good Mom - she has her stroller full of babies right beside her.  There's the 2 on the bottom and there's 3 more in the seat.
Nine times out of ten I end up with them, but that's ok, that's what Yaya's are supposed to do.  :)
Have a great day ladies - I'll see you next time.
~ kitty cat beds and a scrappy purse ~
Good morning ladies.
Here are 3 more kitty beds that I have crocheted.
It's ridiculous how quick and easy these are to make.  I have plans to make a few more and then take them to my local animal hospital.
Sami let Kitty and baby Kitty help show how comfy these beds are.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is a scrappy purse that I finished up finally.  It took me forever to sew on the handles.
I used a ball of scrap yarns that I had tied together along with a strand of white Red Heart Super Saver.

The pattern is posted here:

Have a great day everyone.  I'm going to do some housework before I'm off to visit with my Mom.  :)

~ my new blue purse ~

Here's my new blue purse that I finished a few days ago.

I crocheted it with 2 strands of worsted weight acrylic yarns and an L hook.
One strand is an old Sayelle variegated blue yarn that I bought from Goodwill, and the other strand is a Vanna's Choice medium blue.

If anyone is interested - the pattern is posted here (but with different handles):

Thanks for dropping by - see you next time.  :)

~ kitty cat beds ~

Meow.
I have a big trash bag full of yarn balls that I need to do something with, so I thought of crocheting these kitty cat beds and giving them to the local animal hospital.
I'll most likely crochet some straight mats too for the puppies.

This first bed is for my niece's cat Chi - family comes first.

These kitty cat beds are crocheted with 3 strands of worsted weight acrylic yarns with an N hook.
It's a simple pattern, but I will write up the pattern and post it as soon as I can.

Enjoy your day - I'll see you next time.  :)

~ 2 projects ~

Good morning everyone.  Here are a couple projects that I have completed.
First up is a scrappy granny rectangle baby blanket.  I crocheted it with various 4-ply worsted weight acrylic yarns.
I have a basket of yarn balls next to the couch where I sit in the evenings, and I would just reach over and grab one to work each round.  Not one color came from new stash.

Second up is this little monkey.  I'm not sure what to call this - a lovey, a cuddle blanket - I don't know.
To me, it just looks like a monkey wearing a skirt.

I think I will find a small soft baby doll to fit in the middle instead of this monkey.

I saw an idea somewhere on the internet (and now I can't remember where) where you crochet around an elastic hairband with sc's and move on from there.
I think it's a great idea, and if I ever find it again, I'll be sure to let ya'll know.

Well, that's all for now.
I'll see ya'll next time.  :)

~ 3 little critters ~

Here's three little critters that I've crocheted recently.
This cute unicorn I made for Sami.  She didn't like it at first, but quickly warmed up to it.

The pattern is a paid pattern from One & Two Company on Etsy.

This is Novi.  I crocheted her from a pattern by Repeat Crafter Me.  It's called 'Caron Sprinkle Cakes Crochet Birthday Bear' and it's crocheted with one cake of the sprinkle cakes in the colorway 'Birthday Cake'.

http://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2017/09/caron-sprinkle-cakes-crochet-birthday-bear.html

I named her Novi because my birthday is in November.

This last little critter I crocheted with two strands of worsted weight acrylic - one strand yellow and one strand grey.  I didn't follow a pattern for this one.

She was the easiest to crochet because she is all one piece - no arms or legs to fiddle around with.

Have a great day ladies - I'll see you next time.  :)

~ 3 projects ~

I don't seem to be very good at this blogging thing anymore.  I don't know - I just can't seem to find the time to get on the computer and write things out.  These pictures have been uploaded for a little while now - I just needed to add the words.

The baby blanket is crocheted from Bernat Blanket yarn.  It is so soft and squishy, but it is a little heavy so I'm not sure if it will be ok to put on a baby.  My husband said that it will be like a comforting hug.  If you think about it, he may be right.
A friend on Instagram also mentioned that it could be a good baby mat to lay on the floor for baby.  That's a good idea.

Sami is modeling a hat I crocheted with Red Heart Super Saver in 'Americana'.  I like the way it striped on this one.

I changed two of the colors in my craft room recently.  Instead of pink, yellow and brown, it is now pink, aqua and white.
Jar lids were painted, the little dingleberry garland was changed, doilies were replaced, and so on.
A very small project was this candle cozy.  A very quick and easy project.
Here is a video that 'kind of' explains how I crocheted it.

I'll see you next time - have a great day.  :)

~ scrappy scarf completed ~

Here's my completed scrappy scarf.  Just crocheted with plain rows of hdc.
Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.
You'd think that it would get boring, but all the different colors made it a little fun to crochet.
I enjoyed working on it.

Have a great day.  :)

~ granny square baby blanket ~

Finished up this 2-strand granny square baby blanket a couple of nights ago.
I crocheted it with 1 strand of Lion Brand Mandala yarn in the colorway 'unicorn' and 1 strand of Studio Classic by Nicole in 'gentle white'.
The pattern is 3 rounds of basic granny square and then 1 round of (dc, ch 1, skip a stitch).
In the last round I wove a ribbon through the stitches and then tied it into a bow.
This blanket will be added to the guardian grandmas donation pile.

See you next time.  :)

~ a scrappy scarf ~

I've started a scrappy scarf using scrap 4-ply worsted weight yarns.

I've been watching Kendra from 'Hooked by Happenstance' on YouTube
make scrap yarn strips for a blanket and was inspired.
I don't want to commit to a blanket, so I decided to crochet a scarf.

It might be for me or it might be another Christmas gift.  I'm not quite sure yet.
I'll be sure to let ya'll know.  :)

~ an early Christmas present? ~

I crocheted this hat with Vanna's Choice in grey heather and lemon.  I don't know who it's for yet - I think it will be a Christmas present.

See you next time.   :)

~ New year - new name ~

Good morning everyone.
I have changed my blog name to the same name I use on Instagram.
The content will be the same - lots of crochet with family stuff thrown in every once in a while.

As you have noticed, I haven't been too active in regards to my blog.  Things have changed in my life that make it tough to get on the computer.

For one: this little girl - my granddaughter Samantha.  I take care of her while her Mama is at work.

and for two and three: these puppies - Princess Von Dumass (the black and white puppy) and Baron Von Dumass ( the brown and white puppy).

  Everyone knows that with a baby and puppies, you hardly have a minute to do anything.
You may call me crazy at any time you'd like.  :)

I'm most active on Instagram since it's so easy to use, but I will try my best to post more often on here.  If you don't mind repeats, I think I will just post here what I post there.

I wish you all a safe, happy, and healthy New Year.
I'll be seeing you.  :)
