~ Springtime coasters ~


I've been thinking of Spring weather lately, so I crocheted these cute little coasters with pretty pastel variegated colors.

Materials:
- worsted weight cotton yarn
- J hook

Size:  4 3/4" 

Notes:
- I crochet tight, so you may need to adjust the size of your crochet hook
- the extra 2 chains at the beginning of Rnd 1 does not count as a stitch
- beginning cluster: ch 2, yo, insert hook in space, yo, pull thru, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, insert hook in same space, yo, pull thru, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, pull thru last 3 loops.
- cluster: yo, insert hook in space, yo, pullthru, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, insert hook in same space, yo, pull thru, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, insert hook in same space, yo, pullthru, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, pull thru last 4 loops.


Directions:
Rnd 1:  Ch 3 (make the 1st chain a little loose), 12 dc in 3rd ch from hook.  Join with a sl st to 1st dc.

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining, ch 2.  (sc, ch 2) in next dc around.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.  

Rnd 3:  Sl st into the ch-2 space, beginning cluster in same ch-2 space, ch 2.  (cluster, ch 2) in next ch-2 space around.  Join with a sl st to top of beginning cluster.  

Rnd 4:  Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as joining.  2 sc in each cluster and ch-2 space around.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.

Rnd 5:  Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, ch 3.  *skip next sc, sc in next sc, ch 3.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.  End off.

~ simply pretty ~


Materials:
- 4-ply worsted weight acrylic
- I hook

Size:  6" square

Note:  I crochet tight, so you may need to adjust the size of your crochet hook.

Directions:

Rnd 1:  Ch 4 (make your 1st ch a little looser), 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 2.  (3 dc, ch 2) in the same ch 3 more times.  Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 4.

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, sc in the same ch as the joining st.  Sc in each dc around with (sc, ch 2, sc) in each corner ch-2 space.  Join with a sl st to the 1st sc.

Rnd 3:  Ch 1, sc in the same sc as the joining st, ch 3, skip next sc, sc in the next sc, ch 3, skip next sc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in corner ch-2 space.  *(ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next sc) 2 times, ch 3, skip next sc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in corner ch-2 space.  Repeat from * 2 more times.  Ch 3, skip next sc, join with a sc to 1st sc.

Rnd 4:  Sl st into the 1st ch-3 loop, (ch 3, 2 dc) in same loop, ch 1, skip next ch-3 loop, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner ch-3 loop.  *ch 1, skip next ch-3 loop, 3 dc in next ch-3 loop, ch 1, skip next ch-3 loop, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner ch-3 loop.  Repeat from * 2 more times.  Ch 1, join with a sl st to top of beginning ch 3. 

Rnd 5:  Ch 1, sc in the same ch as the joining st.  Sc in each dc and ch-1 space around with (sc, ch 2, sc) in each corner ch-2 space.  Join with a sl st to the 1st sc.  

Rnd 6:  Ch 1, sc in the same sc as the joining st, ch 3.  *(skip next sc, sc in the next sc, ch 3) across side.  (sc, ch 3, sc) in the corner ch-2 space, ch 3.  Repeat from * 3 more times.  (ch 3, skip next sc, sc in the next sc) across side to beginning.  Ch 3, join with a sl st to the 1st sc.

Rnd 7:  Sl st into the 1st ch-3 loop, (ch 3, 2dc) in same ch-3 loop, ch 1.  *(skip next ch-3 loop, 3 dc in next ch-3 loop, ch 1) across side.  (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the corner ch-3 loop, ch 1.  Repeat from * 3 more times.  (skip next ch-3 loop, 3 dc in next ch-3 loop, ch 1) across to beginning.  Join with a sl st to top of beginning ch 3.

Rnd 8:  Repeat Rnd 5.

Rnd 9:  Repeat Rnd 6.

This square can be made into a large square for a blankie - just continue to repeat Rnds 7, 5 and 6 of the pattern.  This is one I'm working on now.  :)
