Surprise from a friend

I received a surprise in the mail Monday from a good friend. Her name is Mary Lou - she's in my crochet group. She crocheted a scarf for me using perfect colors - pink and black. I wore it to work yesterday and it kept me very warm. :) Mary Lou crocheted the scarf with 1 strand of Red Heart Super Saver in grey and 1 strand of Red Heart Kiss novelty yarn.

Looking back thru my posts, I realized that I never posted about the beautiful bookmark that another good friend from my crochet group crocheted for me. Her name is Marilyn and she does lovely work in thread.

Twister granny

I've been working on a giant granny afghan using Bernat Softee Chunky and Patons Twister (which I bought at the Dollar Tree). I'm using a "K" hook. It's turning out kind of pretty but it's starting to get heavy - and surprisingly, it's very warm - even with all the holes.

I'm finished - it measures 39" x 39".

Baby hats

Chris (one of the Hyundai techs) and his wife are having twins. A boy and a girl. I made a couple baby hats for them. I bought diapers but the smallest I could find was for 8 lb. babies - there's no way they're going to fit now - I'll keep looking for smaller ones.

Baby doll round ripple

I finished this round ripple last night. I crocheted it with Joann's Sensations Rainbow using a "K" hook. The border is RHSS in raspberry - it matched perfectly. It measures 30" from point to point. I will be giving this round ripple to my other great-niece for her baby dolls.

More yarn

I stopped into the Village Economy thrift store (like a Goodwill) after work today and this is what I found. The container is 9" tall and is 7" wide - inside of it is two 350 yd. light blue knit-cro-sheens and a 5 oz. skein of Red Heart multi. The container is perfect for carrying a small project. I got all of this for $6.63. I am very happy. :) I will definately be checking back periodically.

Yarn basket

I finished this yarn basket last night. It's crocheted with 1 strand Bernat Berella 4 and 1 strand Patons Divine. I should of included another strand of the Berella to make it stronger. I used an "L" hook. I got this idea from a young lady in my crochet group - her name is Lu - she crocheted some nice looking bowls for display.
A note about the Patons Divine yarn - I don't like it much. It has hairs through it that looks like dog hair and old lady grey hair. (The label says it's mohair.)

Black and pink purse

Finished crocheting this purse a couple of days ago. I started with 2 strands of black RHSS and then switched to 1 strand pink RHSS and 1 strand pink Bernat Baby boucle. I used an "L" hook. The handles are not sewn on because I'm thinking I might want to take take it apart and rework it so it will be a little bit smaller. I don't know - I'm still thinking.
