Redskins hat

Erica, Richie and the boys bought me yarn and hooks for Christmas. In the bag was a skein of burgandy and a skein of gold (along with some others) - she wanted me to make her a Redskins hat. I used the same pattern as "Erica's hat", just changed to gold on the last 3 rnds.

Materials:
- approximately 3 oz. worsted weight yarn (I used RHSS)

Notes:
- I crochet tight so you may want to adjust the size of the crochet hook
- ch 2 at beginning of rnds does not count as a st.
- fp dc = front post dc

Rnd 1: Ch 3, 12 dc in 3rd ch from hook. Join with a sl st to 1st dc. (12 dc)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each dc around. Join as before. (24 dc)

Rnd 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in 1st dc, fp dc around next dc. *2 dc in next dc, fp dc around next dc.  Repeat from * around. Join as before.

Rnd 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in 1st dc, dc in next dc, fp dc around next dc. *2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, fp dc around next dc. Repeat from * around. Join as before.

Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree

We decided to get a fake tree this year instead of using the spiral tree again. I like this one a little better.

A nice surprise.

I received a nice surprise in the mail yesterday. A friend of mine in one of my crochet groups - her name is Marilyn - sent me this beautiful snowflake. She crocheted it with sparkley gold thread.

More grannies

I've started working on yet another granny square blanket. These grannies are the closed grannies. They will be worked 4 rounds with the variegated yarn scraps (I still have a ton) and 1 round of sc in soft white with the chain joining round.

Crocheting granny squares are a simple project to tote around with me. I crochet in the car before going into work and then crochet a little while I eat my snack at work. It keeps me sane.

Variegated granny blanket

I have finished my variegated granny blanket - it measures about 32" square. Each square was 5 rounds of variegated and then the final round was the joining round in soft white. I enjoyed using this particular joining method - it was very quick and easy. The only problem was that I had about 50 million ends to weave in and no real secure place to weave them. I much prefer having a sc border so all my ends will be secure. To crochet this blanket I used my vast supply of scrap yarn - the only yarn that was purchased was 1 skein of RHSS soft white for the borders.

Work Christmas tree

I crocheted a popcorn garland for my Christmas tree I have at work. Since the tree is only about 12" tall, instead of using dc popcorns, I used hdc popcorns and I chained 8 instead of 10. The decorations are various washers and nuts I found at work. I cleaned them and then colored them with Sharpie markers. The star I cut out of an index card.

Fingerless gloves

I've been searching for a crochet pattern for a pair of fingerless gloves but I didn't really find any I liked. I was getting kind of frustrated - I need gloves - it's starting to get cold. And then a light came on on top of my head (think of the cartoons) - a couple of weeks ago, I bought a 2-pair pack of gloves from the Dollar Tree (1 black pair and 1-pink pair) - I took the black pair and cut off the fingers and then sewed on flower buttons to the cuffs. Came out real cute if I may say so myself.
