~ giant granny challenge ~

I've joined a giant granny challenge hosted by the lovely Angie at Le monde de Sucrette.

I love grannies - so relaxing with the repetitiveness of the stitches.  Plus, I get to use up some stash and I'll have a baby blankie at the end.  It's a win - win situation.  :)

Here's my updated giant granny - I can't seem to get it uploaded to Flickr.

~ baby blankie #17 ~

Posted by Picasa
I've crocheted this one with the 'grannyin' around' motif - I liked working on it but I'm not too sure about the shape.  Also, I don't think that there was a need for the increase sc's on the border.  That rnd kind of rippled a little.  I'll try again some other time.  :)

~ It's Blogday ~

Today's featured blog is Barbara's "Made in K-town".  From the first time I visited her blog, I knew it would be a favorite.  I love her crochet covered stones - I look at them and wish they were mine - and she's just completed a baby blankie that I'm sure will be treasured for years to come.  When you get a chance - check out her blog - you won't be sorry.  :)

~ baby blankie cards ~

I received my 'dly's baby blankies' cards in the mail while I was away on vacation.  They are so cute.  These cards will be doing double duty - 1) the baby blankies and 2) give them to friends who'd like to either look at my blog or email me.  Now all I have to do is attach them to the baby blankies and take them to P.G. Hospital.  I certainly hope they don't say "Thanks, but no thanks" - that will be embarrasing.

P.S.  I bought the cards from moo.com

~ aannnnddd we're back ~

We're back from vacation.  Me, Vince, Bobby, William and James went to our campsite in Virginia.  Loved being there - very relaxing just to sit on the porch of the trailer and crochet.  :)

Here's the front of our campsite:

here's the back of our trailer - the first bump-out is in the living room.  The second bump-out is in the bedroom.  :

And here's me crocheting away in my crochet corner:

This is the bath-house that is right across the little dirt road.  It's very nice - except for the spiders that hang out in the doorway at night.  I have to get Vince to spray bug killer around to keep them away.

My sister Teri's trailer - she's got a very nice lot.

My sister Julie's trailer - she has a very nice lot too.

My nephew Donnie (Teri's son) bought a new lot - also very nice.  He sold his first trailer to my brother-in-law Frankie's Dad.  :

This is the pool.  The guys went swimming every day. :

William and Vince went fishing - they didn't catch anything but look at that view:

Vince - the man with the nerves of steel - let James drive the golfcart.  He's so crazy.  :)

This is James during one of his behaving moments.  There wasn't too many of those.

And finally - these are my crochet projects that I worked on.  I crocheted a small granny purse to carry around just the basic stuff - ID, camera, phone, and such.  I crocheted another granny bottle cozy - some flower coasters - some circles for my 'round in circles' blanket that I've been working on for ages - some hexagons - and a scrappy hexagon.  That's my William holding it up for me.  Love it.  :)

~ baby blankie #16 ~

Finished this granny rectangle baby blankie last night. I rotated between working on this one and the scrappy round ripple baby blankie. This little blankie was crocheted with Red Heart Premier yarn that I bought from the thrift store and RHSS yellow that was in my stash. :)

~ scrappy round ripple ~

I finished this scrappy round ripple last night - it measures 32" point to point. I want this to be one of my baby blankies but I'm not sure. Do you think new parents would want a scrappy blankie? I wouldn't mind, but then again I crocheted it, so I'm a little partial. :)

(this would be baby blankie #15)

A few more squares for SIBOL.  Right now I have 2 of each but I plan on crocheting 2 more of a different color.  This pattern is my 'squircle v2' pattern.  :)

~ last day ~

Today was my last day at work.  Now you're probably thinking that I'm thinking "yay! more time to crochet" - but no - I will be taking care of William and James while school is out.  My William is 11 years old so I don't have to watch him constantly, but my James Dean (5 years old) is another story.  I swear that boy is 4 boys rolled into one.  He can never be let out of my sight for more than a few minutes - that's while we're in the house - if we're out somewhere, he is never out of my sight.    He can be in one spot one minute and the next minute he's a mile up the road.  He's a handful for sure.

When school starts back up again - I'll be looking for another job.  Bills to pay and such.  :)

~ sunglasses case ~

Erica asked me to crochet her a sunglasses case and this is what I came up with.

Materials:
- a little more than 1 oz. 4-ply ww acrylic
- J hook

Size:  4" x 7"

Notes:
- I crochet tight so you may want to adjust the size of your crochet hook
- The 1st Rnd is the only Rnd that is joined.  Do not join at the end of Rnds 2 through 22, use a stitch marker to mark your 1st st.

Directions:

Rnd 1:  Ch 12, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook.  Sc in next 9 chs, 3 sc in last ch.  Now working on the opposite side of the ch, sc in same 9 chs, join with a sl st to 1st sc.  (you have just crocheted an oval shape)

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, (sc, dc) in same sc as joining.  (sc, dc) in next 2 sc.  {skip next sc, (sc, dc) in next sc} 4 times.  Skip next sc, (sc, dc) in next 3 sc.  {skip next sc, (sc, dc) in next sc} 4 times.

Rnds 3 - 22:  (sc, dc) in each sc around.  At end of Rnd 22 join with a sl st to 1st sc, end off.

Add a chain loop to the back and a button to the front if desired.

~ It's Blogday ~

And the blog I have chosen to highlight today is 'Crochet Concupiscence'.  This blog has a wealth of crochet delights.  Kathryn (whose screen name is CrochetBlogger) highlights something new every day on her blog.  It could be another crochet blog, a crochet book, an Etsy item, crochet quotes, crochet in the news and more.  If it's out there and it's crochet - it'll be there.  Take a look - you'll probably enjoy it as much as I do.  :)

~ 2 crafty things ~

I crafted a few more glass gems - these are the squiggly kind bought from the Dollar Tree.  The paper I used was a magazine add for Sweet 'n Low.  I like these little gems - now I just have to figure out what to do with them.

I also crafted a string art angel.  I was working on the heart shape when I ran out of thread - when I looked at it, it reminded me of angel wings - so I stopped and added a little face.  She will hang on the wall in my craft room.  :)

~ Kreativ Blogger award ~

Angie from Le monde de Sucrette has very kindly presented my blog with the 'Kreativ Blogger' award.  Thank you so much Angie - it's always nice to feel appreciated.  :)

To accept this award I need to tell you a few things about myself:

1.  I am 49 1/2 years old - almost to the big 5 0 - but in my mind I feel younger.  Well, except for my various aches, pains and crazy body problems that are associated with menopause.  Oh, and also when I'm with my grandsons.  (Can't be young and have grandsons.)

2.  In the safety of my PT Cruiser, I fuss at stupid drivers.  For example:
     - that's some mighty fine driving there jackass!
     - Jeez Grandma (or Grandpa) the speed limit is 45 not 30!
     - where's your frickin turn signal idiot?!
     - hey jackass - who taught you how to drive?!

~~~I should be ashamed of myself.  :)
3.  I love spending time at our trailer at the campground but I absolutely hate having to use the bath-house across the little dirt road - especially at night - there's spiders in the doorway.  Which leads me to...
4.  Spiders.  Spiders freak me out.  They give me the willies just thinking about 'em.
5.  My husband and I went to High School together for 2 years but never met.  I met him at my friend's boyfriend's house the summer I graduated (in 1979).
6.  In my opinion, pro football pants are one of the best inventions ever.  :)
7.  I do not know how to swim - and I will never learn to - I'm afraid of the water.
Now I would like to pass this award on to a few of my favorite blogs:
1.  glor from Crochet Galore
2.  Rita from Gramma Rita's Crochet Etc.
3.  Heather from The Good Life
4.  Kat from Hookin' it with Mr. Lick Lick
5.  Barbara from Made in K-town
6.  Bev from One Yarn After Another
7.  Shannon from Ruby Lee and Me
If any of you ladies do not participate in awards - that's ok - I just wanted you to know that I enjoy your blogs.  :)
~ baby blankie #14 ~
This little baby blankie is for a boy - I crocheted it with RHSS 'peruvian print' - I love how the colors changed.  I followed my 'ripples and shells' pattern which I made a couple changes to - if you have printed out the pattern before you'll need to print out a new copy.  Sorry for the inconvenience.
Speaking of printing out patterns - does anyone know how to get a little gadget button that is for printing out a single post?  Does something like that exist?  Hmmm - I'll have to search around.
