~ Hook reminders ~
Eileen from 'Crochet Attic' posted her progress on the pretty granny stripe she's working on and she asked a question. The question is: "do any of you ever set a project aside and when you go back to it you can't remember which hook you were using?"
Nowadays, I'm lucky if I remember what I had for breakfast. I forget alot of stuff and have to make notes all the time. My solution to the hook problem is I'm sure, not a new one. I take safety pins and letter beads and pin it to a project if I put that project down for a time. I also use this for my scrap yarn cakes when I wind them - 'A' for the 1st one, 'B' for the second one, and so on. This has saved me from alot of aggravation. :)

That was just the problem I had this weekend. I picked up my squares afther a week or two and I didn't know what size hook I jused. I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem ;-) Thanks for the solution!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea Debi. I read somewhere that someone keeps the hook they were using with their project, but that would start to add up if you have a lot of WIPS. Have a great day! :-)
ReplyDeleteHeather - I usually leave my hooks with the started project (just the letter doesn't always help me, the lighted hooks which I love are definitely a bit larger than an aluminum one!)
ReplyDeleteThis does mean I've spent more money then necessary on duplicate hooks because I can't find the one I'm looking for!
I might need pins, but maybe I'll do mine w/ more than a letter....great idea Debi - thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for such a great tip. I always forget what hook I use...not anymore...thanks. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, what a superdooper idea. I'm off to Michael's to find some little alphabet beads. Thanks for sharing this great idea.
ReplyDeleteThat's a fantastic Tip Yes i forget quite often too:)
ReplyDeleteIf I'm able I will leave the hook with the project. Probably why I occasionally cannot find a certain hook. LOL ;) Your idea is a great one. Cute and practical. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I will definitely have to remember this one!
ReplyDelete... I leave the hook in the project... hence I have lots of hooks (the same sizes!).
ReplyDeleteThis is such a brilliant idea!
ReplyDeleteThe other day I had just this problem, I wanted to do something again that I'd worked on previously, but couldn't remember the hook size I'd used. Fortunately for me, I remembered I'd taken a picture of the finished project and the hook was in the picture. So all was good as I could tell which it was by the colour of it!
This idea would be so much less stressful!
Love it!
:)
What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies. :)
ReplyDeleteI pin a note with the size hook I used.
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to remember to log my new projects on Ravelry, with the hook size. Doesn't always work, but that's where I go first, if I can't remember. And I use the SB Luxite hooks, which are inexpensive, so I have multiple sets, and often leave the hook with the project. The alphabet bead idea is neat!
ReplyDeletei use a piece of tape, n write on the tape, n fasten at the beginning where u start your first stitch.
